In summary

Alverthorpe Park is praised for its beautiful setting, variety of amenities, and well-maintained facilities, making it a popular spot for Abington Township residents. The park offers numerous recreational activities, including playgrounds, trails, and sports facilities, which are appreciated by locals. However, the park is restricted to Abington residents, and this policy has led to dissatisfaction among non-residents who were turned away, sometimes experiencing unfriendly interactions at the entrance. Additionally, some visitors have noted maintenance issues with certain facilities, such as basketball nets and restrooms.

Absolutely a wonderful park with many activities. The only thing is, dogs or any other animals are not allowed and finding out after a 2 1/2 hour drive to play baseball was quite a shock. Fortunately my wife was able to sit with our Bernese Mountain puppy while I played baseball..........but the bad news was, I was in the dog house for a few days........thankfully we won and are heading to our league championship

Discriminated against at the gate! Turned away for not being a Abington resident. That is disgusting and is clearly discrimination. They don't want certain "types" in their park. Says a lot about your town. Not at all welcoming. Why would I ever move to a place that treats people who live in the next township over like we are trash that doesn't belong in their "private park". You're lucky no one has sued you for discrimination yet.

This park is good for all Abington residents. It has everything you would want for a day of recreation. It's extremely nice for a township Park. There are so many things to do you can't do them all in one day.

Unfortunately, this park has seen better days. I've been coming here with my twelve year old since he was about five. We were here on Saturday in May of 2025. The basketball nets were in disrepair. They have been this way for at least a month. The women's bathroom is a disgrace. The soap dispensers are broken, trash strewn around and smells like mildew. The baseball fields look old and need to be re-lined. It's such a shame to see this green space decline in this manner. I'm not sure what's going on in Abington with their Parks & Rec Service.

It was nice , but was not expecting a man-made lake.I was hoping for a real natural lake. Other than that it was nice little walk.

One of the best amenities of having moved into this neighborhood is the close and easy access to this great park. The trails are gorgeous. The sporting areas are always kept clean. The playground equipment always works and even has a kiddie pool for kids 5 and under for free! Wonderful gem ❤️

We went to my cousin's Trunk Party at Alverthorpe Park and it was so wonderful ... The area we were in was under the large pavilion by the baseball field ... I truly recommend this for any larger family or group events... The pavilion had lighting and areas for you to grill your food right under the pavilion two large bathrooms lots of parking and YES you could plug in for music set up and charge phones if needed ... Our family really had a great time

Did not realize this park is not open to anyone who doesn't live in Abington. Unfortunately being Mt. Airy residents who happened to be passing through on a beautiful day after a local doctor's appointment, my two young children and I were not welcome to play here. Seems antithetical to the spirit of parks...but I suppose good for Abington residents who only desire other Abington residents to share a slice of sky with? We were greeted (a generous term) by a gentleman (an even more generous term) at the front gate and instead of having this odd Grinch-written policy presented and explained wit…

Great little patk with 2 play areas and a large pond! There are two playgrounds one for toddlers and one for older kids..kids of any age complain any of the ponds there's also sandboxes a golf course and a pond that is stocked with fish on occasion. There's also miniature golf. As long as you are residents you could come and use all this stuff for free

Love this park. Free for Abington residents. Great place for family picnics. There's enough space that it doesn't feel crowded often. The bathrooms are a little dingy, but relatively clean for public park bathrooms. All the playgrounds are at least partly shaded. One of the playgrounds is fenced, which is great if you're there with multiple kids. The walking and hiking trails are well maintained and mostly shaded. There's a wading pool, plenty of picnic space, campgrounds, mini golf, basketball courts, tennis courts, a lake, and more. It is NOT pet friendly.
