What People Say
In summary
Melrose Country Club is praised for its challenging and well-designed layout, which some consider a hidden gem with historic architectural significance. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing poor conditions of the greens and tee boxes, as well as high fees that do not reflect the current state of the facilities. While the potential for a top-tier golf experience is noted, the lack of upkeep and management attention detracts from the overall experience.

SAVE THIS GOLF COURSE!!! Scheduled to have houses built here?!? We’re losing one of the best designed courses in the region? Why?!? This diamond is nestled at the edges of the not-so-rough suburbs of Cheltenham and Elkins Park and has only recently become all scuffed-up due to previous sub-par ownership and its public status. But make no mistake, this course has superior design and facility capabilities. New management has finally moved the player’s lounge to take advantage of the mansion building, which can easily be arranged for events of various sizes. Should it be returned to it’s previous…

Facilities are overall excellent (visited August 2020): beautifully kept grounds and greens, pro shop with gear and drinks, and ample carts without a wait. The staff were also very friendly and attentive. Front nine is tight, and another group played through our own fairway when hitting from the adjacent hole. Overall, a tough course but highly recommended.

Pretty sure the owner is about to sell this place. They totally gave up on the greens. Guessing they haven’t watered or aerated in 5+ years. The design is actually great but the course has become unplayable

Awful, awful experience. I cannot believe they're charging $60 for this course. Greens were not even puttable, weeds EVERYWHERE. Pace of play was Horrible (5 1/2 hour round.) Tee boxes garbage, Weeds in bunker, no fairways. Do not ever waste your money in this place. Trees down on course and debris everywhere. It should be $30 to play... We went in after 2nd hole and asked for a refund so we could leave and told no. So I took enough pictures to make sure you do not waste your time if you are thinking about going there. Do not go!

Really enjoy this course and was happy to play again when they reopened for the year. The fairways were ok...but that was it. The tee boxes were in really rough shape. The green were worse. No reason there should be wedge divots on the greens. They weren't fresh either. I went on the 6th day they were open for the 2023 season. If you're closed all winter there's no reason why the course shouldn't be in tip-top shape before you open. Especially with the extremely mild winter we've had. Played on multiple course that are half the price ($50 during april) that have stayed in better shape over the…

This course is absolutely fantastic. Start to finish. I’ve lived in Cheltanham for 4+ years now and just now played for the first time. It’s a hidden gem!! Tight, lots of terrain to mix it up and the greens run very well. If you don’t like this course it’s probably because you spray the ball. As a single digit handicap that loves golf, $41 to walk on Sunday during prime time… what else could you ask for. Very comparable if not better than both LuLu and Northhills easily.

I had high hopes for Melrose Park Country Club. Nestled in a prime location right next to the city, the course boasts an incredible layout that has the potential to be one of the best 18-hole courses around. Additionally, the clubhouse itself has great bones and could be a magnificent venue for a variety of activities. It's clear that with the right care and investment, this space could become a standout feature of the club. Unfortunately, the neglect of both the course and the clubhouse is evident, making it a significant waste of potential. The lack of management has left Melrose Park in di…

Don’t play here. No other way to put it. $65 and it’s a $20 course. Driving range is closed. The fairways are shot, the rough has nicer grass than every putting green and we were pacing 5 hours for a round. Look at the closed wedding venue and how terrible the practice green looks, it’ll tell you everything you need to know. Just don’t go here.

Played 8/4/2024 - Course was in terrible shape. Greens were covered with weeds and just completely missing patches of grass. Tee boxes were all dirt with no clean place to tee up on. Fairways were not mowed down and had many dry spots. Pace of play was not an issue since it was raining on and off during the round. Wouldn’t pay more than $25 to play this course.

Booked a tee time for $39.00 in late March. When I got to the course they charged me $65.00 and when I asked about the discrepancy they brushed it off and said that it was wrong on the website. Despite entering a phone number and email, there was no contact to let me know that they would charge me almost double. A pretty cheap move for them to have people drive 30 minutes and not say anything till you show up. Paying 65 dollars, I would expect the course to be in alright condition, but the greens rolled pretty poorly and pace of play was a struggle.

Great course, last Mackenzie course designed before Augusta national ! The tee boxes needed a tiny bit of work( also in part to people not fixing their divots ) other than that I had a great experience! The course will challenge you. But also good for a mid to high handicapper. Will be back very soon, cart girl was on point here! Seen her quite a couple times.

I had the unfortunate displeasure of paying $70 to play at this atrocity of a golf course. Let’s start with the property. It looked liked i was playing golf in Iraq. The practice green, which should exude the quality of the of the course we just payed almost a hundo to play, looked like a scene out of a crack house horror film. While looking for my ball, I found a ziplock half filled with brown powder which was clearly heroin. Every green had black dead patches and were filled with weeds making it impossible to sink a regular putt. The fairways were a joke, but not as big a joke as the dirt fi…
