In summary

John F Byrne Golf Course is frequently praised for its well-maintained grounds, challenging layout, and friendly staff, with many noting the improvements made by The First Tee organization. The course offers good value for money, making it a popular choice among both casual and seasoned golfers. However, some visitors have mentioned issues with slow pace of play, particularly on the back nine, and a few have experienced less than satisfactory customer service.

Great place , good price and most important a great staff! Grounds are kept in good shape. Can’t beat the price. Go at least once a month with my family.

Went out with my buddies for the end of the season last challenge match! Great time on this challenging course. Great elevations and fast greens. Will be going again next year

Played here twice so far the front once and the back oncs. Shot my personal best score here for 9 holes(40) and got my first birdie. A day to remember. I really like the layout of this course. I definitely like the front 9 better than the back. Good difficulty but also easy to keep the ball in play

This course has improved significantly from just 2 years ago! Not only the pro shop and new deck, but new cart paths, greatly improved fairways and great greens. There is still room to improve the back 9 holes, but this is well worth checking out for a short course challenge!

Course is in great shape and has a really fun layout. First Tee has done a fantastic job with their renovations. Edit to add: recently I've noticed the forward tee boxes are on a little bit of a slant on some holes. That is really my only feedback. Overall its a great course at a reasonable price. One of my favorites.

Played on 7/22 - Course is in great condition besides some tee boxes having to be maintained. They do have a cart girl. Course is very short and this caused pace of play to be slow especially on the back nine with three straight par 3s. All holes are fairly close together so seemed like everyone was on top of each other and could get hit easily by the group on the next fairway. Overall for the price it was a great course.

We had the pleasure of playing on May 3. The course was in great shape and the staff was very friendly. We were there about four years ago and this was not the same track. The First Tee and golf maintenance have done a terrific job of getting the course back in shape! A short course by todays standards but very interesting layout with challenging greens. Hats off to them for a job well done!

It was okay, the greens were pretty inconsistent across the board otherwise the course besides the horrendous tee boxes was in good shape. I do have a problem with them taking the flags in the middle of a hole. Coming up on twilight hours 7:10 a 13 year attendant came around and said come back after this hole, no problem we knew carts were supposed to be in 7:20. I was 150 out and the goober takes the flag..... I was not thrilled at all.

Been playing here for some time now and the place looks incredible. The work that has been done all around the golf course is showing how beautiful of a golf course this place is. From the starter to the Grounds Superintendent, to Anthony and all the kids that help out with the carts and all Thank you . Staff is second to none . Great people with awesome service. Don’t be shy come on out and check this track out for yourself. Keep up the good work guys. RIP Gary little shout out to my man .

The course is in great shape, but very little golf etiquette from other golfers. We won't be returning

My 5 stars are for the efforts of the First Tee and donors of turning this course into what should have been done decades ago. I played there as a youngster and teenager in the 60's and the course was awful. I've been a very active supporter of The First Tee of North Florida and was thrilled to see the amazing turnaround of "the Byrne". Congrats to all...just amazing to see the course for the kids and adults to play.

Love playing on this course, especially because of how affordable it is. But whoever the ranger on Tuesdays is needs to be let go. He was aggressive to every group at the end of the day and decided to be rude for no reason. He was extremely aggressive toward us and was even worse with the group behind us. He tried to rush them off of the green and got into an argument so bad that we heard every word from over 300 yards away. After we brought our carts in, we talked to 2 other groups and they all had similar experiences. I’m pretty sure the ranger’s name was Steven Utz. I don’t know what other…
