In summary

Awarii Dunes Golf Club is appreciated for its unique layout and scenic views, offering a challenging and enjoyable experience for many golfers. The staff is frequently praised for their professionalism and friendliness. However, numerous reviews express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with the greens, fairways, and bunkers, which some feel detracts from the overall experience.

My boyfriend and I had played a few rounds at Awarii over the weekend and had an amazing time. Everyone was very welcoming and helped us navigate the course. The town of Kearney is maybe a 10-15 minute drive away from the course to accommodate any needs they may not have. We got a chance to speak with Jeff and he was able to help my boyfriend look into clubs he had been interested in. Super helpful!

If golf courses needed to meet certain standards to stay open, this course would close tomorrow. It's in awful shape. This course has so much potential, but it's been neglected in every way... Tee boxes are beat up, dead grass all over the fairways, bunkers have more weeds than sand, mounds of dirt on some greens (I think from moles?). It's sad - I don't like leaving negative reviews, but hopefully the ownership will get a new grounds crew or sell to someone who will turn the course around...

Really sad to see this course in its condition. Hole 14 green is completely dead. Bunkers aren't maintained. Signage is poor. Rough was unplayable. Looks like it is on its way to disrepair if not there already. Staff is great, though.

AWESOME Golf course with country feel and exceptional views. Peaceful and relaxing to play. Beauty of the course shows with each unique hole- some requiring smart, precise placement, while others allow for aggressive, long shots. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The lodge is rustic with a great view of the challenging par five, 18. Bar with drinks and snacks, grill active at certain times. There is a banquet hall to host larger events. The staff is top notch and very professional with a driving range and pro on-site. Excellent golf course!

Big, taken care of fairways, greens are solid, clubhouse personnel was cordial, range balls are a joke, the traps and rough seem totally neglected. Is not a $90 course. The rest of my foursome mocked me for choosing AD.

People are starting to ask where the money has gone. I have seen managment personally treat people horribly. They think treating people horribly, and taking members money without giving them what they paid for, is a good business model. They are literally stealing money from people. And they are running and hiding from it all... Really is sad to see. But they have been told by plenty of people. And they CHOOSE to not listen to what anyone says. And they have unmarked chemicals lying around and fail to care that is puts employees at risk.

2 stars might be too much for this course. They want to be an Irish/Scottish links course, but it's no more then a field with slight improvements. I've played St. Andrews, this is not close. Don't hit the ball off the fairway. It's impossible to find a ball. Some fairways are just okay, along with some greens. But for $62, spend your money somewhere else.

Really neat course. Some of the greens are pretty wild. Overall shape in October 2021 is good. I would play here again.

From what I see now it looks amazing and it's on its way to looking the way a golf course is meant to look. I'm excited to see the future of this amazing place as it grows.

I played the course a week ago with the Nebraska golf passport. It is a fun course with interesting layout. The ground superintendant resigned at the beginning of the summer and they have had irrigation problems which, combined with the drought, has left some of the fairways in rough shape and 14 green very rough. That said, I still enjoyed playing the course. I enjoy playing courses that have a unique layout like this. The course attendant was very friendly and I have no complaints. If you are wanting a course that is in really good condition, you will probably be disappointed.

If you want to see an example of a once thriving golf course with an amazing design and optics, but it's now reduced to seeing the remnants of what used to be, by all means come to play Awarii Dunes. As an avid golfer, it almost hurt to see the condition of this course. Collars around greens reduced to dried out mud. Fairways with much uncut/spiney crabgrass ball rollout is easily reduced by 10-15%. Greens inconsistently cut providing different speed expectations on each hole. Mens Tee boxes appeared closer to a bomb going off than a tee box and champions tees growing fescue. Yes the course…

Currently, this course demonstrates the importance of a good groundskeeper. I've really enjoyed playing here over the years and have held it in very high esteem. Unfortunately, it's been neglected and has some serious problems. I have no doubt that, under proper management, it will return to its full glory in a year or so and reclaim its place in my mind as the best course within 100 miles of me.
