I've never played golf, though my husband proclaims this course is some serious business. This year, for our sledding adventures, he pointed out the roped putting greens atop our community's favorite sledding hill. I was scared it was a dangerous area (like a patch of thin ice or something- but I knew there was no water there. Haha ⛸️). These guys have done some quality maintenance and upgrades to this course. A real local treasure 😍. He also pointed out the steepness of the our sledding hill DIRECTLY NEXT TO that hole. Good luck finding your ball if you end up hitting even close to the hill.…

Frear Park Municipal Golf Course – Aerial Photographer’s Perspective As an aerial photographer, I’m always on the lookout for locations that combine natural beauty, open space, and unique textures from above—and Frear Park Municipal Golf Course in Troy, NY delivers all three in stunning fashion. From the drone’s vantage point, the course unfolds like a green patchwork quilt, with rolling fairways, carefully sculpted bunkers, and tree-lined edges that glow with seasonal color. Early mornings reward you with misty fairways and soft golden light, while late afternoons bring dramatic shadows tha…

Beautiful day and setting for a walk to enjoy the gorgeous weather for the last day of October. We stopped at Park Pub for takeout to carry up to eat at our favorite spot near Hole 10. Amazing views to enjoy during our lunch, and then we walked the perimeter of the last several holes of the course. We are so lucky that Frear Park is part of our neighborhood.

One of my favorite places to just sit and enjoy the view, a lot of wonderful people passing by the spot that I sit and watch the people playing through the golf course. The ninth hole is the best spot in my opinion to be, you can see for quite a distance. As a person with a disability I am able to safely travel up to the ninth hole on my mobility scooter while not bothering the golfers. A beautiful gift to the public!

I had the pleasure to play golf at Frear Park Golf Course today. The course is in beautiful shape with the total playing feeling of being at a Private Country Club. The greens are so perfect that I made several long birdies putts due to the great care that the greens are given by the Course Maintenance Staff. I especially wanted to single out the wonderful mowing style used to create a quality test of golf especially on the Par 3 17th Hole. Totally an exclusive Private Country Club style of presentation for golfers of all levels. Troy residents are very fortunate to have this wonderful product…

Great course. Wet day, but the course held up great. Challenging for an amateur, but fun to play. Holes were placed in challenging spots on the greens, but that added to the game. Terrain features were great. Definitely recommend.

I am writing this review as a winter user, not summer. We came here to snowshoe and it was a perfect place for that. There is plenty of open space and places to explore. While we were out walking, we saw many different areas for sledding as well. There were a few people in different areas but I feel like you could have a hill all to your own just by looking around a little.

It's just a historic little muni, don't expect too much. Greens are good as of September. Price is Right. Little bar there also.

It was looking to be a beautiful fall day up until till the ninth hole. Prior to playing the course Marshall instructed us and very brief request that we only use the cart paths on the front nine. When you go to this course you will realize that cart paths seem to appear and disappear out of nowhere. One second there is a clear gravel or asphalt path and the next second it fades into the fairway. On our ninth hole we were verbally harassed by the game warden who started screaming and swearing saying that he saw us move away from the cart path, which he was correct we were guilty of that. But t…

Our first time here and wow, what an amazing course. Let me state that I am a total beginner, but I loved it here, and I did not feel pushed my other golfers
