In summary

Bucksport Golf Club is appreciated for its beautiful setting and friendly staff, with some visitors noting the course's enjoyable layout and affordability. However, several reviews highlight significant concerns with the condition of the greens and bunkers, with issues such as dryness and overgrowth being frequently mentioned. Efforts to improve the course are acknowledged, but some guests have had negative experiences with maintenance and customer service, suggesting room for improvement in both areas.

This place! Amazing layout! Fairways and tees are gorgeous. Greens aren't perfect, by any means, but owner spoke to me about outside support commitments to get them back. Ten times better than last summer, which is why I waited to review until this spring, because of the unusual drought conditions last year. Glad I gave it another chance! Hope the community supports this club so we don't lose another local course. Play with an open mind and enjoy the surrounding views...

Played in November 2025, it was the only course in the area open, so I understood that greens would likely not be in great shape. The greens had recently been aerated/sanded, but greens should still not be nearly as bad as these were. The bunkers were also bad. Pics attached for reference. Layout was OK. I hope they can get the course back to good shape in 2026, but buyer beware.

The course used to have the best greens around , now its a joke. We ended up with the maintenance guys golf cart because the worker didnt want to go get another cart out if the garage. He was also drinking a natty light at 10:30 am. Very disappointed

This place needs a lot of work. Yes, we haven’t gotten much rain this summer and this place has taken a beating. The greens are in awful shape and have more sand than the bunkers. There are large spots of sand and random large weeds on the greens making them not playable at all. The bunkers are overgrown and full of rocks with no rakes. There’s a lot of potential here but even at $40/18 holes with a cart it felt like a waste of money. The staff that was there was friendly enough but I wouldn’t waste my time there again until major improvements happen. Cash only & no ATM. The best part was the…

This golf course is just perfect. Not too crowded and very beautiful enviroment. The owner is very friendly and very nice with a lot of experience golfing. We stayed at the site with Harvest Host and it could not have been a better experience . I would 100 percent reccomend.

Had one of the Play 18 For Free cards from Wabi TV and this course was on the card and the owner did not honor it. Course was also in horrific shape, fairways as long as the rough, not a single playable bunker, and maybe 1 green on the whole course that wasn’t completely dry and dead. And to top it all off, the old guy working the pro shop made multiple inappropriate remarks to my wife. Plenty of great courses in the area, do not waste your money or time here.

The new management is refreshing and much needed!!! Greens are not great but an effort is being made to fix them, which is wonderful. Highly recommend!

I can’t speak on the golfing here, but I would NEVER recommend considering this place for an event center. My (now) wife and I got married here a week ago. We had to take down all of the round tables because we asked for rectangle tables to accommodate our guests. We had to set up the entire venue ourselves. They keep the bar stocked with alcohol, but no chaser or mixer, so hopefully you like shots. Once the bartender and bar back started drinking on our tab they started cutting people off for no reason at all. I assume they just didn’t want to be there. Golf here, don’t get married here.

Glad to hear the greens are being repaired. And we saw the sand traps being worked on when there in August. Have been playing there since the '80s and it was a shock (broken water pump) to see what had happened to the greens this year which meant our group of 12 played elsewhere in September. But will be back next year. Always a fun course especially the second hole. Four stars for the past and the future. Good grilled red hot dogs, too!

The greens just been allowed to fade away to nothing that resembles a putting surface. Such a shame as the layout has potential to be a great 9 hole track. 9/09/22. Full prIce admission with a straight face was the kicker..local hack suggested this was the norm.....8(

The tees and fairways were in great condition but the greens were not the best. Understandably the drought is probably the main reason they were. First time I've played here since high school 33 years ago.

We had so much fun at this course. The employees were very friendly. Not the fanciest course but we had a great time and it’s very affordable. It was lovely seeing people out just enjoying the sport.
