In summary

Carmel Valley Ranch Resort is widely praised for its stunning property, friendly and accommodating staff, and a variety of amenities and activities that cater to both adults and families. Guests appreciate the well-maintained grounds and spacious rooms, though some mention issues with room amenities and a lack of clear communication regarding the shuttle service. While dining experiences are generally positive, there are occasional concerns about unexpected charges and service fees.

Overall, a really great stay. Note, I didn't dine on premises at all, this review is exclusively related to the facilities we did use/visit (the room, the fitness center, the main lodge pool area) Positives: - Room was very nice, with all the expected amenities for a hotel of this caliber. - All staff that we interacted with during our stay were very friendly and accommodating. - Main Pool area is stunning, pool and jacuzzi were at great temperatures. The staff at the pool were especially great. A wedding group caused the pool to be quite busy on the Saturday we were there which was a lot of…

So many bad things and a few good. A hotel of this calibre should do better in my opinion. At check in a kid hit my chair with a clipboard and another sat down next to me like he’s my child, neither the parents or check in person said or did anything. The food at the restaurant and at room service were both good, but charged us $50 after globalist free breakfast credit which was for one alcohol beverage and what they said was other service fees… $30 in unknown service fees they couldn’t show me the breakdown of. The animals on property are really cute, the activities are pretty sparse. Once I…

Carmel Valley Ranch is a truly beautiful property, and we had an amazing experience being hosted there for a work conference. From the moment we arrived, the staff stood out as exceptionally friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I had a preexisting injury during my stay, and the team went out of their way to accommodate me—bringing ice packs promptly when I was in pain, which made a real difference and was deeply appreciated. The conference and meeting spaces are outstanding—spacious, well-designed, and ideal for hosting professional events. The catering was excellent throughout the confere…

CVR exceeded my expectations in every way. I was a bit hesitant about the stay due to mixed reviews online and after receiving an email from the hotel a week prior to my stay informing us that the lobby, lodge pool+hot tub, and spa would be undergoing renovations. However, we had an excellent time during our stay. While walking to the check in area, we passed by a few employees who greeted us very warmly and with smiles. Prachi at check in was extremely professional and kind, as was all the other staff at the front desk. We were super lucky to have been upgraded to a suite due to having Global…

Carmel Valley Ranch left me speechless and part of me wishes I didn’t write this review so that I can gatekeep its beauty, but the staff and hotel truly deserve it. This resort is an absolute stunner and if I could I’d give it 100 out of the 5 stars. From the minute you step on the property, the staff show you an incredible level of hospitality and grace. At every point of our staycation, the desk staff, restaurant staff, shuttle drivers, farmhands, and beyond made the experience unforgettable and weren’t afraid to go the extra mile. Pair that with the beautiful hotel grounds, spacious rooms,…

We have mixed feelings about our recent stay (Feb 9-10). On one hand, Carmel Valley Ranch is a fantastic, highly family-friendly resort. We truly enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the wonderful activities they offer—it’s a great place for families with little ones. However, we had a serious issue in Room 302. Both my husband and I woke up with multiple bug bites all over our bodies. While we love the atmosphere and service here, finding bug bites at a luxury property is deeply concerning and disappointing. We have already reported this to the management. We really want to come back because of…

It is a lovely hotel but definitely not worth the expense. Terrible service too trying to resolve a post-stay issue. By the way - I wrote a poor review on TripAdvisor which led them to contact me, asking for a phone call. But I once again asked for the refund (only $35) and said only then would I speak to them. Now no response. So they don't really care for their guests feedback. I now have been ghosted by two different employees! Would recommend the other hotels in the area instead. A few big issues: -Rooms are massive but smelled a bit stale. You can also easily hear your neighbors next do…

Truly a first class resort! Our family used to come here every year with friends of ours. And then COVID hit. This year, we decided to come back. We discovered that they had just completed a multi-million dollar renovation to their family friendly River Ranch, so we couldn't wait to check it out (and it didn't disappoint). There is something for everyone! My husband and son golfed, our kids swam, we played bocce ball, and I went to the spa. We left relaxed, not like we needed a vacation from our vacation (like we sometimes do). We can't wait to come back!

We were here for a family vacation and booked a suite as well as a standard room. We were really disappointed by the standard room; it was the lower floor of a weirdly located townhouse-style suite. The soundproof system was really bad, and we could hear all the noise upstairs. The room was also small and very old. It doesn't feel clean. All the food is out of pocket here and very expensive. The location and service were decent.

Our first stay here was breathtaking; our second was a total disaster. We were tucked into a "tree view" room that was actually a privacy-free view of a parking lot. Day 1: The front desk became defensive when we asked for a move, promised a 5-minute callback, and then ghosted us. I had to call twice just to be told no rooms were available due to "leaky roofs." Day 2: Management promised a new room by 4 PM, only to call at 4:30 PM to offer a downgrade since the other room they promised were "leaky" unavailable. Unless this resort has "magical leaks" that appear only when guests request a mo…

I had the most incredible experience at Carmel Valley Ranch this past weekend for my son’s 13th birthday. From the moment we arrived, every single person went above and beyond to make our stay special. At check-in, Prachi was wonderful—so welcoming and helpful. Andy gave us a private tour to see the alpacas, which was such a unique and memorable experience for just the two of us. Dinner at Valley Kitchen was outstanding, and Giovanni absolutely made the night. His passion for food and knowledge of every detail was truly inspiring—he clearly loves what he does, and it shows. The valet team, e…
