In summary

Carter Country Club is highly praised for its well-maintained greens, friendly staff, and the unique challenge of its Donald Ross-designed 9-hole course. Golfers appreciate the course's historical charm and reasonable pricing, making it a popular choice for both casual and competitive play. However, some visitors note the hilly terrain and overlapping fairways can be challenging, and there are occasional concerns about players not picking up their tees.

The course is older and the fairways cross each other on a few holes. The staff was very nice and people were respectful. However I always felt super nervous the entire time knowing the course layout was funky and I felt like I was going to hit someone. One note is people don’t pick up their tees. Please pick up your tees after you take your strike.

A great experience with friendly staff in the club house. Good drinks and carts. Holes 1 and 4 can give you some trouble but the rest of the course is great! Definitely would recommend if you are in the Lebanon area.

Decent 9-hole course, poses some challenging up-hill and over valley shots, with a couple shots over small ponds. Would recommend for a novice or experienced golfer.

One of my favorite courses I’ve played at in New Hampshire and have become a member. It is 9 holes maintained well and everyone who works there is great. Heavily recommend for golfers in the area.

Carter is one of the best 9 hole courses in the country as far as convenience, quality, and history. A unique location and a great place to have a casual or competitive round of golf. Play with family, friends, or get in a quick round between work meetings. Carter accepts bookings years in advance and is truly one of my favorites. I am not a member of the club, but the prices for rounds/membership are all quite reasonable. Check this place out!

I paid $28 to play through these 9 holes twice today, which took 2 and 1/2 hours. The course was pleasantly challenging with two real par 5s, all on about 5,700 yards from the tips. The greens were pretty quick and the course was in good shape over all. Several of the par 4s were on the top of fairly steep hills and #6 par 5 (about 450 yards) features a blind tee shot and very narrow approach to the green--quite challenging. All told, this well established (its been around for many decades) 9 hole, par 36 was well worth the price

Deserves 5 stars for greens etc... friendliness, same. If I wasn't with an extremely elderly person I would say 4 stars. It's so hilly, and the most challenging terrain wise I've ever seen. But my young son, 20s, was very happy with it. He would say 5 stars. Most were walking it so lots of strong people playing here.

Nice course but holes 1 and 4 are difficult, as your ball can roll back down to you! Being elevated, you can’t see if there’s anyone by the green. Fore!

Enjoyable public course. It's pretty tight and you end up with tee boxes when you're teeing off facing another tee box and need to coordinate so you don't hit each other. Great value and a good workout to walk.

Fun affordable 8-hole course. Great golf without all the snobby BS that comes along with the game. Clubhouse is an old throwback with plenty of cold beer.

Great little golf course. The greens were in excellent shape. For a short golf course, it offered a challenge. Highly recommended
