In summary

Don A. Hawkins/Roebuck Municipal Golf Course is appreciated for its affordability and friendly staff, making it a welcoming spot for both beginners and seasoned golfers. However, some visitors express concerns over the course's condition, particularly the greens and bunkers, as well as occasional safety issues and customer service experiences. While some find it a great value for the price, others suggest exploring alternative courses due to these recurring issues.

I was a member for 2025 and played the course at least 30 times. My last time playing there was and will be 12/26/2025. There was a shootout immediately beside hole 16 at 4:30pm. A golfer was hit by a stray bullet in the thigh and he reported that a body from the shootout was left lying in a ditch across the street from the course. I was on hole 9 when it happened and could see the muzzle flashes from all of the guns. I have heard nearby gunshots at least 15 times while playing Roebuck, so gunfire wasn't surprising. This time being so close was different. The course conditions are actually imp…

Roebuck is perfect for a golfer looking to improve or just enjoy some time out playing the game. It costs $14 to walk 9 here. Some people like to leave one star reviews for a few bad greens, and while 4 of the 18 greens aren’t in the best shape, they are actively being worked on. For me, the nice and friendly staff, food, and a golf course I can come out and play whenever I want is worth more than perfection.

As a new “serious” golfer I have visited several golf courses domestically and fortunately internationally. Having said that, Roebuck Golf Course feels like home to me. As a proud Roebuck Golf Course member, I highly recommend this golf course! Beginners are treated with the same respect as avid golfers and everyone makes you feel special no matter your skill level. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people on the course and words can’t express how amazing the staff are. Everyone at Roebuck Golf Course consistently provides superior service at an affordable price! I appreciate and appl…

Played golf with a friend here and was charged 2 cart fees when we needed 1 cart.the course could use some work, the greens have weeds and there was a tree that fell down blocking the cart path on hole 17.the course is relatively well taken care of there was some grounds crew making adjustments to the tee box where their were divots.on the plus there are a high amount of ball wash station with towels, and water stations. you do get a gps and yardage on your cart, although they have a restricted area zone that locks the cart when you get to close to a tee box or green or the edge of the course…

Great value for the money. While its not a world class golf course by any means, you really can't find better value around the Birmingham metro area. They don't have a driving range and the greens are very small, but other than that its a great course for the money.

Do not play here right now! They are charging $45 to ride 18 and the greens are horrible! Pic of hole #8 green! I will think twice about going back.

Have been playing there 3-4 times a month since 2020. Never had any complaints! Now they charge out the butt for crappy greens! The carts Geofence is always on “cart path only” and pretty much makes you walk😑 Used to be great for the money but it’s worth paying a little more and going somewhere else

This course is absolutely the worst course in the state, and I promise you I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Most of staff is rude, the fairways are equivalent to roughs, I’ve never played a course where my dead center fairway shots are unfindable because of the grass being so high, you are punished no matter how good of a shot you hit. Two of the holes had false greens that no one told us about yet we were still charged normal price, and they weren’t even green they were brown and dead. The greens that are there are eaten up with crab grass and dead spots making it quite impossible to r…

Sad to see the shape the course is in. Used to be a great value and in decent shape. Now it’s borderline unplayable. Tee boxes are over grown, fairways are riddled with weeds and barren spots, bunkers are completely unplayable, and greens are the worst I’ve ever seen. Course needs new ownership and capital investment desperately. I’ll be surprised if it is around much longer at this rate.

For the price of the golf course it is very nice and worth it. Other then the one incident with the greens I have had no problems playing here at all. The par 5’s give you a nice long feel and it is overall a very nice course. Would highly recommend playing here!!!

Great value course. No tee times so can get more backed up than 280 during rush hour
