In summary

Forest Hills Public Golf Course is praised for its beautiful and challenging layout, well-maintained greens, and scenic setting near the bluffs, offering a mix of old and new holes. The staff is frequently noted for being friendly and accommodating, and the course amenities, including a driving range and a 19th hole, are appreciated. Some visitors mention issues with busy periods, such as being paired with strangers or tough pin placements during tournaments, but overall, the course is regarded as a great golfing experience.

One of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the Midwest. Service was amazing and Marc the starter/marshall was very informative and entertaining! Appreciated he was out on the course periodically to make sure pace of play was maintained. The 19th hole was a nice addition and a fun way to end your round. Definitely would go back.

This course has an interesting history. It was built in 1900 and private. It has a train track running right through it. It was sold to the city of Lacrosse and the railroad said no more hitting across the tracks, so holes were shorten and it lost a lot of character. So its a mix of old and new holes. While short it plays longer and tougher with the uphill shots on various holes. The condition was good. It was very busy and there were too many carts. Does anyone ever walk?

I would say with how busy it was during their tournament they handled it pretty well. They do a pretty great job with taking care of the course. The only downfall we had was with the pin locations on the greens. They had placed the pins in tough locations meant for the tournament. It would have been nice if they would had informed us when we booked the tee time versus telling us after we paid for it. Other than that great place to play!

Forest Hills is one of the best courses in the area. The prices are maybe on the higher side, but they are justified. I love the look of every hole. The staff are friendly. And I highly appreciate their practice range - including the chipping and putting greens. Plus, they have a 19th hole.

Staff is always friendly and helpful, even when they're busy. Player's Club discount is a great value for locals.

Beautiful course hat is well maintained. Had a tee time on a Friday at 11 and paid 45 to play 18 with a cart. Was worth the cost!

I really like the course but I played there today, had a 9:50 tee time and traveled 2 hours to play with him. When we got to the first tee we were forced to play with two other complete strangers! I was told that is the course policy! I paid $120 to play with my son NOT with two complete strangers. Very disappointed with your policy👎

Beautiful track!! A little wet with all the rain but not bad. Everything is so vibrant and green, and a delight to walk. Staff was super nice too. Great course!

Very nice course to play. We were in town to spend time with friends. We golfed this course for the first time. Came back a second day because it was a lot of fun. Staff is great. Back nine is a little more challenging, but very beautiful. Nice driving range.

We had our annual family golf gathering in La Crosse this year and 1 of the 3 days was at this course. We found the management to be very accommodating with our early planning and the staff was friendly and very helpful the day of the event. Even the ranger was patient with us :) The course itself was well taken care of despite my inability to make a put in 3 on the front 9, but I wont blame them for that. Overall we had a great time and would come back again.

Fun course! Challenging holes for experienced golfers while not overly so for less experienced. Greens were a little rough but we've had so much rain it's to be expected. Fairways and rough were well maintained. Staff were excellent! We will play again soon.
