In summary

Hillcrest Golf Course is praised for its enjoyable 9-hole layout, featuring unique elevation changes and challenging greens, making it a great place for both beginners and those looking to improve their game. The course is noted for its affordability, friendly staff, and the opportunity to play without a reservation. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about the slow pace of play, occasional maintenance issues like sprinklers turning on unexpectedly, and communication problems with membership benefits across affiliated courses.

This course punches above its weight for a 9-hole Muni. Great elevation changes that make for all sorts of shots around the course. The routing around the water tower is unique and fun.

Don’t waste money on a membership here. Bought a membership last 3 years: Ben Hawes and Hillcrest have ZERO communication between the two locations. If you buy your “city” membership at Hillcrest, then Ben Hawes will charge you full price, and vice versa. Showed up today at 6:15 tonight for 9 holes and was turned away by new employee inside because I guess he wanted to leave early? Was told we had to be done by 7:30, when yesterday the time was 8:15. City membership is not worth hassle and the possible harassment you’ll get by the employees at Hillcrest(employees at Ben Hawes are top notch) Y…

Wouldn’t let us get a golf cart even though we have our intermediate licenses and can drive without an adult. Although the dude who cares for the golf carts was a nice dude and was just as confused as we were the only reason why it’s a 2 star. If you wanna enjoy a nice day of golf I would recommend you to not bother going to hill crest and just drive the extra way to Ben Hawes or panther creek.

$22 for 9 very average holes, this place is a “last resort” golf stop. the course isn’t too difficult, but the greens are some of the hardest I have ever played for some reason. if you have slightly more time, I’d recommend ANY other local course. also, you WILL have the sprinklers turned on while you’re putting, be warned.

Very nice 9 hole course. I played here back in 1990 and it was rough. Then I moved away came back played in 1997 it was better. The last 5 yrs it has been in great shape. Only draw backs is its only a 9 hole course and a lot of walkers it can be a little slow. However if you want to walk 9 I recommend this course over any other in town.

Play usually isn't fast. The fairways are usually as deep as the rough, and you often feel rushed. Even when there is a team in front of you. Gave it a 3 stars because of the price and the availability of going golfing on a whim.

This is a great course to work on your game greens are small and have a lot of break on most puts. Purchased a membership two years ago and the nice thing is you get three courses with that membership

Decent course, had issues last year from what I heard. But not bad considering they lost their greens and bounced back in short time. Not the most difficult place to play, but ok.

Local municipal course in Owensboro. Great place to learn how to play golf wide-open Fairways and difficult greens. Golf scrambles on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with Thursday being the senior scramble Tuesday is open for everyone.
