In summary

Holmes Park Golf Course is appreciated for its well-maintained greens, scenic views, and reasonable green fees, making it suitable for golfers of all skill levels. The course offers a pleasant layout with some challenging elements, though the driving range and tee boxes receive criticism for their condition. While many visitors find the staff friendly and attentive, others report inconsistent service and management issues, including overbooking and pace of play concerns.

This is a lovely course with reasonable green fees. Rental clubs are not the best and dont appear to have been cleaned or taken care of since the day they entered service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and courteous, as much so as at the most expensive clubs I have played at. The course, although not difficult, is fun and the greens are well maintained and challenging. Would recommend for all skill levels.

I am giving this a two star for the sheer fact that the course is nice. However, the range is the worst i’ve seen in my life. There are times where the path of a club is moved while swinging simply because the ground is that beat up. Adding on, the course is inconsistent on a hole to hole basis on how: the greens roll/stick, how hard the ground is and how beat up the tee boxes are. I understand that this is a public course, but it is the worst in Lincoln by far. Below I have put a picture of the best shape of the range. (it is still bad)

They squeezed me in to play an uncrowded back nine before sunset- great course with beautiful views!

Tee boxes are incredibly thick, not even worth teeing up on a par 3 when your ball sits up on the grass anyways. The young gentleman was confrontational and rude at the counter to me a few weeks back, and upon returning the club pro gave me a earful about having attitude my previous visit when I had just walked through the door. Overall, just go to Mahoney, or even better Highlands golf course. Same price, much better courses.

I used to hate this course, but it is now not so much. A tree that made the shot harder than it needed to be. Now, the drive can be a draw.

My husband and I were enjoying a Sunday golf day until someone from staff came up to us to tell us someone behind us called in to complain about us going slow. The employee stated to keep up with others yet could see there was 3 carts full of multiple people in front of us waiting to go. Didn’t speak to anyone else except us. The employee should’ve used his common sense and look around because then you would’ve noticed we weren’t taking our time. It went from an enjoyable golf day to being rushed, never coming back.

We're really lucky in Lincoln, NE we have 4 city owned courses where you can play 18 on the weekends for less than $50.00. There are 7 other private courses but not golfing there for under $50.00

I hear there's great fishing. Kayaking is popular. Clean park. Has beautiful sunset and plenty of space in the entire park.

Like all the Lincoln muni courses Holmes is well maintained. In my opinion it is also the most difficult due to elevation changes and length. A number of other reviews speak negatively of the staff and, in general, I agree they can unhelpful and aloof. But look, I pay and go play golf. Their assistance I don’t really need. And yes, the driving range is definitely on the “rough” side which is hard to understand. There is ample room to rotate the tee boxes. What they don’t do is reseed when rotating. That’s inexplicable. In any event, if you want a good challenge, very nice greens and fairways,…

Do NOT play here on weekends. Not enough carts. Also there are no marshalls which creates a huge problem when there are so many below average players. Pace of play is as bad as you can imagine. I hadn’t played here in 20 years and it was a complete waste of money.

Experience was great golfing, however the staff was awful. The guy behind the counter, I couldn’t get his name, was a huge douche and clearly couldn’t care less about it. The course was good the range is alright but man I hope this guy (or any other staff) doesn’t treat other patrons the same way.

Course is in good shape but they over book everything so hard. Have 6 groups waiting to tee off on the same hole
