In summary

McDonald Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, well-maintained greens, and enjoyable layout, making it a pleasant spot for both casual and regular golfers. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about the condition of certain areas like fairways and bunkers, as well as occasional issues with pace of play and staff interactions. Despite these criticisms, many find it a suitable and affordable option for a quick round of golf.

I drove up to watch the solar eclipse in 2024. Traffic was horrible, but I saw this golf course and stopped. Told the attendant that I wanted to watch the eclipse here and asked for a cart. Paid the cart fee and found a nice spot out of the way of the golfers. The attendant joked around a bit which really made my trip!

Waited for winter rates while also hoping for a slower day to take our boys out with us and have a relaxing 9 holes while letting them experience an actual round instead of just going to a driving range. They are still fairly young and just learning the game. We had planned on letting them hit their tee shots and then pick up and play from my ball on each hole for the rest of the round. We hadn't even finished hole one before the marshal/attendant came to us and asked us to pick up our pace of play to keep up with the group ahead of us. He mentioned he had "already received multiple calls abou…

It looks like the course was well maintained 5 years ago and it's gone downhill from then.

It's still early in the season so the course isn't in great shape, but it's still playable and still a fun 9-hole course.

3 of my friends and I had a 10:20 tee time. The group in front of us were a little behind, but no worries things happen. Once we got started, the rest was history. We had a great time and played at a good pace; as we were able to really think about and calculate our shots while having a great time. The fairways and greens were great and can’t wait to go back for another round!

Fun course. 9 holes but overall a very pleasant course to play at. Clean fairways, nice greens, wonderful office employees.

Had a great time playing today, but the greens are a little rough from recently being aerated.

The course is nice but I have to give one star on this based on the older bigger gentleman who works the desk, I didn’t catch his name but as we walked in he was getting really rude with a golfer and it was uncalled for how he was acting the the golfer seemed very nice with him. As we finished for the guy working the desk to get done being rude to the golfer. We were there 30 minutes early, told him our tee time was in 30 minutes and that we would go chip around around till then. Not even 5 minutes later he announces our group to the tee box. I went him and kindly said to him, you can go ahead…

I couldn’t even enjoy playing golf out there. The tee boxes are like half pipes all un-even and have tall uncut grass and overall poorly maintained. In the first hole you are basically hitting into tree branches right now with this tee box placement. The pins were all not even a putters length from the fringe and on slopes and the greens have divots and are poorly maintained. The fairways look like streets on the wrong side of town with mini craters all through out them. I would not recommend anyone to come play a round of golf here. Thunderbolt would be my first recommendation.

Nice public course. Fairways are missing some grass in places. It’s a bit busy & you have to wait on slower groups unless your golfing in the early afternoon, then there’s no wait. Greens are well kept & fairly fast.
