In summary

Ortonville Municipal Golf Course is praised for its well-maintained grounds, beautiful views, and challenging yet enjoyable layout, with particular acclaim for the last three holes overlooking Big Stone Lake. The friendly staff and reasonably priced amenities, including a welcoming clubhouse and good food, enhance the overall experience. However, some visitors have experienced issues with cart reservations and availability, which can lead to delays.

First round today! Really nicely maintained course. Tight driving range wedged between holes with balls spilling out onto a few holes. A nice putting green next to the club house. On the course, the tee boxes were perfect. Fairways wide with mature trees lining most, nice and smooth, rough was forgiving. Greens were nicely mown and quick with some mild challenges. Beautiful flower gardens which added to the park-like setting. After the round the lunch buffet in the nicely designed and welcoming clubhouse restaurant was BBQ pork and chicken sandwiches with a nice salad bar and Cold drinks!—just…

Hmmmm..why 5 stars? I rarely give out 5 stars but this municipal course deserves it! On paper it looks like an average course in no man’s land. If you’re ever in the big stone city area, camping or fishing..bring your clubs and play this course. The most beautiful last 3 finishing holes for sure! Course is rather short from the back tee at about 6100 yds. A low handicap player could over power the course with drives but will still need a good short game to score low. Would definitely recommend & play again. Layout is testy, greens are smooth (not too fast or slow) protected by bunkers & wate…

Fun course, some challenging holes and nice layout. Staff was friendly and reasonably priced. Restaurant was closed due to mechanical issue when we played and no beer on tap.

They can have one star for the maintenance. We made a reservation the night before for a cart and 18 holes. Came in and paid. We were there early and she gave us a key to a cart. She didn’t tell us it was first come first serve? Absolutely no carts even though we made a reservation? They offered to push our reservation an hour but we were already there for an hour waiting. Other people also had the same issue. So make sure if you go, you go steal other people’s carts or else you’re walking. I don’t think they reserve carts at all.

First time golfing this course for me. Some former classmates joined us and we had a great time. Great course, and super friendly clubhouse staff. Left my new distance finder on a golf cart and it was returned to me when I alerted them that I lost it. Thank you so much. Would love to come back someday.
