In summary

River Downs Golf Club has received praise for its promising course layout and the welcoming atmosphere created by the new owners, who are actively working to improve the facilities and build a community-focused environment. Visitors appreciate the reasonable pricing and the potential of upcoming amenities like the driving range and restaurant. However, there are significant concerns about course management, including inconsistent opening hours and poor communication, as well as criticisms of the course's current condition and customer service.

Clubhouse just re-opened with new owners and management! Went for Sunday brunch and had a good experience with their first day open. Food was all good, kids enjoyed it as well. Can't wait to see how the place progresses as they get more of the place open. (Driving range is open now) Note: I know there are a lot of bad reviews, I've played the course in the past under previous ownership and yes it was in bad shape. Spent some time talking with the new owners, they have a lot to do and are working to bring it back.

The course may be in the middle of finding its footing and trying to settle into its final form, but the underlying design and layout show incredible promise. It’s abundantly clear that much thought is being put into the course and how it can be a fun challenge to play through. In addition, what stood out to me was the hospitality. The new owners are very welcoming and excited about this project. You can see how they really care about not just building a golf course, but a wonderful community for everyone to be connected and bond over golf. I can't wait to see the upcoming driving range and up…

Attended the River Downs Golf Club open house and loved the community-first vision. The team’s passion and thoughtful planning really stood out. Looking forward to the opening of the restaurant, driving range and golf simulator on March 1st...

7:54 am tee time this morning. Been waiting for employees to show up and open the course since 7:25 am. It's now 8:05 am and nobody here to open up. Just 2 vehicles in parking lot which are both golfers waiting to play their scheduled tee times. I gave a 2 star because the course is fun to play but this is very disappointing. Now there is a frost warning on website stating will not open until 9 am. Never receiveda notice and at 7 am there was no frost warning on website. Temperature at 7 am was 41 degrees. It's 8:45 am and still no employees around to open up. 9 am and still no employees. Ther…

Played here on a Friday, easy to get a tee time. Clubhouse looked great and staff who helped me were very nice. Course conditions aren't top notch, but in my opinion they weren't terrible either. Cart path is a bit tore up in places, and I wouldn't recommend speeding around as there are some inclines and declines that feel pretty hairy. However, it is very reasonably priced, and the group I was with had an absolute blast! The area is beautiful and it makes for a very pleasant time, especially with nice weather. The course is extremely challenging, so if you are a high handicapper (like me) mak…

A great intermediate course with 18 holes. Very fun but would definitely be a tough course if you're new to golf. Right in finksburg md off of east Lawndale rd.

Do NOT play here! They randomly do NOT open. UPDATE Do not waste your time or money. Last Friday when my group arrived at the course it was closed, and we were informed by an employee that the owner’s daughter randomly doesn’t show up to open when her parents are out of town. This was frustrating since it was a beautiful day, and it prompted me to leave a negative review. Oakmont Greens had some tee times available, and we along with others from River Downs (RD) were able to play there. Later that day I received a call from RD apologizing and offering a free round of golf. I called the next…

Everything about this course is awful. The tee boxes haven’t been taken care of in a decade, the fairways are all practically rough, and the greens are the most patchy I’ve ever played on. This is a poor excuse for a golf course and should cost 5 dollars to play, not 60. The management needs to be changed or this place won’t last another year. Waste of money and time.

Disappointing Experience at River Downs Golf Club I recently had a disappointing experience at River Downs Golf Club, which unfortunately left a negative impression on both myself and my colleagues. We had scheduled a corporate meeting at 10 AM at the club and planned to play 9 holes before the meeting. Our tee time was set for 8:18 AM, but upon arriving, we were met with confusion and disorganization. When we arrived, the only person present was a gentleman collecting balls on the driving range. He had no information about the course’s operations and couldn’t contact anyone for assistance.…
