In summary

Sapphire National Golf Club is praised for its beautiful mountain setting, challenging course layout, and friendly staff, particularly Nick, who enhances the overall experience. The course is noted for its scenic views and unique hole designs, making it a favorite for many despite some maintenance issues. However, several visitors express concerns about the condition of the bunkers, greens, and overall course maintenance, as well as the high pricing relative to the current state of the course. Additionally, the closure of the restaurant and limited hole availability due to ongoing reconstruction are points of disappointment.

Beautiful scenery, awesome location, this course has the potential to be a destination course for public use, however…. the greens were horrendous and only the front 9 was open, in addition to holes 10 and 18 on back nine; which apparently we could’ve played but nobody told us about it until after we finished and inquired since we saw people playing on #18. I really hope someone invests in this course because it could be such a great asset for vacationers who aren’t part of a country club up here! Especially if the brewery they market actually was open and had live music or other reasons to…

What a beautiful place! I've been playing here for a couple of years. This year, the course maintenance improved greatly. They still struggle keeping the bunkers in good shape, but the fairways and greens are in good shape. The super likes to place some weird pins, but so is golf! The views and wildlife are beautiful and abundant. It's one of my favorite mountain courses! The course can have some really wet spots when it rains. But again, that's golf. Nick, the car attendant, proshop guy, and basically everything else, is super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed due…

I want to be upfront—course conditions at Sapphire National Golf Club this past weekend weren’t ideal. That said, everything else about the experience was top-notch. I was there with a group of guys for a friend’s wedding, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better time. The layout of the course is extremely challenging—it rewards smart, strategic play over simply hitting it long, which made for a fun and engaging round. Nick, who took great care of us, was outstanding. We were fortunate to have much of the course to ourselves, and he was incredibly attentive to anything we needed thro…

I love this course because it's on some beautiful land with some amazing views. It is extremely challenging for a double-bogey golfer like myself (aren't they all!). A thick line of trees lines almost every hole. Missing a fairway often means losing a ball. The greens were in great shape and very fast, but the course could be maintained better overall. The bunkers are an unplayable disaster, and I wish they would take measures to prevent mountains of goose pooh from piling on some of the greens. They're definitely overcharging for the level of maintenance ($90!?). If I hadn't gotten some very…

Great setting for a course. Nice elevation and design. That’s the good. The bunkers have not been taken care in a long long time. Too bad, the bunkers are unplayable . And before noon it’s cart path only. Not what is expected. Greens are slow, maybe rolling around a 7.

I have visited for years. I miss tours but great way to hike, experience a rain forest and enjoy fall foliage

Sapphire National Golf Club is the only 18-hole golf course in the Highlands, Cashiers, and Sapphire region that is open to the public and doesn’t require a hotel stay. And, in the event your round’s not going well, step back and look at the beauty God has surrounded you with. That’s what I did; come to think of it, I spent a lot of time looking at nature! Sapphire National plays to a par of 70 on bent grass tees, fairways and greens. The front nine features three par 3s, four par 4’s and two par 5s and only one par 5 on the back. As you make your way around this 18-hole championship mountain…

The bunkers need some work, but the course is a lot of fun and challenging. We are staying in the condos here, and received a great rate. We had a great day, and the views are beautiful. The is also super friendly and helpful.

I’ve been golfing for 20 years, and this was by far the most over-priced golf experience of my life. $90 and the tee boxes were full of rough patches...I lost 3 drives that I hit into the middle of the fairway that plugged into the wet ground never to be found again (it hadn’t rained in days). Isn’t worth more than $45 max. Do not go if looking for a quality course. With that said, to be fair, it’s a fun experience and would be great if $40

Work in progress, challenging recovery from hurricane Helene. Only 10 holes are open due to reconstruction, focus obviously on reopening the back nine and the entrance (now a major, difficult detour). Tee boxes and greens will require major re-seeding and sod. The restaurant (a major draw with live music in the past, now only serves snacks/hot dogs). Positives are that its the only remaining public access golf course in the area, price is reasonable, it's not busy, the setting is beautiful and the people in the pro shop are very engaging and transparent. Alternatives are all 40-50 minutes away…

I visited this course with my brother for what we hoped would be a relaxing family outing, but unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. The overall course conditions were very poor—greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all in rough shape and clearly not well maintained. My brother ended up leaving a negative review, which we felt was fair given the state of the course. However, what followed was completely unexpected and unprofessional. A staff member approached us during our round and began filming us without our consent, seemingly in an attempt to provoke a reaction. This behavi…

Played today after all day rain yesterday. Course was soft but I had a great time. Very scenic views and a number of holes with major elevation changes. Staff could not have been more friendly! I would recommend if staying in Sapphire Valley!
