In summary

South Mountain Golf Club offers stunning views and a unique layout that integrates beautifully with the mountain landscape, providing a memorable golfing experience for some visitors. However, many golfers have expressed concerns about the course's poor maintenance, including issues with dead grass, standing water, and poorly maintained greens and tee boxes. While the staff is generally considered friendly, there are frequent complaints about the overall condition of the course and the need for significant improvements.

Not sure how a county owned course can be in this bad of shape. Do they spend any money at all on it? So much potential with the views of the valley. Always has tee times but for good reason, it’s in worse shape than Mulligans or Toad’s Fun Zone.

This course has so much potential. It used to be great: good price, well maintained, and usually not too crowded. Then a few years ago it went to crap. We decided to try it again today and the course is in horrible shape. Please Salt Lake County, fix this course!!!

I wish I had read recent reviews before I played South Mountain today. I play approximately 50 rounds of golf a year and it is the worst conditioned golf course I have played in maybe five years. A third of the course is in fine shape. A third of the course is dead and the other third is soggy/standing water. It is a well designed golf course that is fun and challenging when playable, but it Is embarrassing how bad playing conditions have deteriorated. I worked on a groundscrew for 10 years and whoever is cutting cups needs some training. Virtually every hole had sand scattered around the cup,…

South Mountain is a golf course in the south side of Draper, tucked away in the mountains. It's got incredible views here from start to finish. Parking is fine here as the lot accommodates enough cars easily. The clubhouse is smaller and they have some food and drinks inside. Greens fees aren't too bad, but it's really worth it for the views. The fairways were in good condition and the greens weren't too bad, but some of the rough was burnt. The staff were nice here but there wasn't any beverage cart riding around. Overall a cool place to golf and would go again.

After seeing the condition of this course today, I can’t believe they’re charging full price to even golf here. They do have a sign stating drainage issues but apart from what are truly drainage issues, this course is in AWFUL condition. I have golfed here year after year and the fact it has gotten this bad is mind blowing. It’s not like this is a new issue, there have been signs something was going wrong here the past few years. There are basically ponds where there would be grass and they smell horrible, it’s like walking in a mini swamp in area, the dry spots are so dry they’re almost down…

Unfortunately the course is in rough shape. Obviously the heat of summer has really taken its toll on the conditions, but this seems quite extreme with severe burnouts everywhere. Either they’ve had severe irrigation maintenance issues or Salt Lake County has just stopped caring for this course. Until the county addresses the issues, take your money elsewhere. It’s quite sad because the track does have some unique characteristics.

Very nice course with gorgeous views! We booked a tee time online and had a seamless experience even with a sold out day. The golf cart path was really fun to drive between holes. We loved how the course was beautifully integrated into the existing mountain landscape. Absolutely stunning.

Just fix the damn course already it should be a World class beautiful place. Lack of range golf carts, especially for us locals, gets super frustrating. No reason this place can’t be a five star in the coming years though.

Haven't played here since 2017 only to find this course in terrible shape. Fairways with large potholes, standing water everywhere, bunkers full of rocks, it appears they don't move the tee boxes. Not to mention the staff was depressing, and terrible at the cafe. It's a washed-up has been, riding the coattails of what used to be a beautiful course in its prime. THEY NEED TO SHUT IT DOWN FOR A YEAR AND REPAIR IT. Sad.

Golfed 18 at South Mountain early morning 22 September 2021. Fascinating course that feels like it's hanging off the side of the mountain...incredible views in morning light! The designers of this course did an awesome job creating a very interesting, very enjoyable - albeit challenging - track that beautifully winds back and forth across the mountainside. No expense was spared in the placement of beautiful rock work, cart paths, bridges and tunnels - top quality work. Well-maintained lush fairways and beautiful greens - hand salute to the superintendent. Carts were new and maintained. Beautif…

Mediocre at best. South Mountain Golf Course has great scenery but that's about the only thing that it has going for it. The layout of the course is short, even when playing from the tips and the pace of play is remarkably slow. I had to wait 20 minutes from tee to tee because the group in front of me was backed up by the group in front of them and so on and so forth. Furthermore, the condition of the course itself is very disappointing. The greens are not maintained very well, with patches of dead grass sprinkled throughout the greens and the fairways are far from perfect, again with dead pat…

Horrendous, 0/5 experience with this place. The course itself is beat up. You'll find yourself on pavement-like greens and fairway lies made of dirt. What is so much worse though, is the pro shop people. My friend and I saw a promo on their website for a BOGO round and signed up having not played this course before. When we got there, we were told the promo was a mistake and we needed to pay double what we had pre-paid or we would not be allowed on the course. I asked if it was their mistake, they said yes, but we could go home or pull out our credit cards. These people suck. With so many c…
