In summary

Tam O' Shanter Golf Club in Toronto is frequently praised for its well-maintained greens and fairways, friendly and professional staff, and an enjoyable layout that offers a fair challenge with a mix of hole types. The urban setting provides a surprisingly tranquil environment with diverse wildlife, enhancing the overall experience. However, some visitors mention issues such as slow pace of play, occasional staff attitude concerns, and pricing that some feel is high for a municipal course.

One of the great city course in Toronto. Fairway and green always well kept. Funny to read some of the comments below. People are complaining they lost their tee time because they showed up at 5:28 for their 5:30 tee off. They always recommend you to show up at least 15 minutes earlier to pay. We show up at least 1/2 hr for practice and warm up. And another person complained about the course not allowing spectator. When was the last time a golf course allow spectator without paying?

Impressive municipal golf! Pretty much lived my entire life in Toronto (always wondered if a ball could come out and hit me as I was driving along on Kennedy Rd) and never played here until June 2024. Reasonably big greens for a city course in excellent condition is what really stands out in my mind. 15 is their signature hole, tee shot over a pond with a slight turn right to shoot up to an elevated green. Overall it's fun to play here for its fair challenge (lots of rough and fescue) and for its urban setting there is a surprising amount of wildlife. I've seen the usual geese, but also a he…

Another great experience at Tam O’Shanter. The greens were well maintained. It’s great when the starter has everyone spaced out properly, we didn’t run into anyone along our 18 holes. Will be back soon.

Second best City Golf Course next to Don valley. Very friendly staff and the people you meet and interact with are always nice. The conditions of the chorus or what to be expected. The pace is always slow but for the money and getting out exercising and enjoying golf it's worth it

Every time I’m at Tam O’Shanter, Jamie and Sierra are two of the main reasons the experience is so great. They always have everything running smoothly organized from the moment you check in to the time you head out. No matter how busy it gets, they never seem flustered, and they’re always ready to help with whatever you need, whether it’s sorting out a tee time, answering a question, or just pointing you in the right direction. What really stands out, though, is how genuinely nice they are. They treat everyone with respect and kindness, and it feels like they actually enjoy seeing you there.…

Considering it’s a public city course, it was fun and a little challenging. Narrow fairways and giant greens, will make you think about your approach shot. Pace was a little slow, but overall not too shabby.

The course is decent and well-maintained, especially for a city course. It’s not overly challenging, but it offers an enjoyable round of golf. My main issue was with the marshal, who was unnecessarily condescending after the first hole — it was our first time out, and while we took a bit longer than average, our pace was still reasonable and made up for it after the first hole. I also wasn’t impressed with the pro shop experience; the staff member was pushy about the $45 rental clubs, even though both the $25 and $45 sets were complete trash (I ended up sharing with a friend anyway). Lastly, t…

One of the best public golf courses in Toronto. Very impressed with the quality and condition of the fairways and greens. Very walkable and recommend skipping the golf cart to get your steps in.

Played 9 holes after work and had a great time at this course. Well kept with challenging holes. Putting and chipping greens right by the clubhouse. Power/push carts available. The pro shop is efficient and staff were friendly. Can’t wait to play a full 18 here.

Right in the heart of Scarborough lies this hidden gem. When you’re on the course you forget where you are as it’s a very tranquil location. This has a wonderful mix of par 3s, 4s and 5s, so you can definitely let your driver rip. I wish they cut the grass more on the right side on the 10th hole, but all in all that’s my only complaint. The staff are friendly and the course is usually well maintained. Have a great time and don’t forget to tip the drink lady!

Fairways are mostly mown weeds and clover. The poor drainage is evident by the amount of mud and wet areas on the course even though it hadn’t rained for a week. Forget about the feel of hitting a nice fairway iron because all you get is a lot of mud in your divot. Trees are not maintained and too many overhanging branches ruin second shots. The greens, including the practice green, were covered with sand and seed. Used to play here in the 90’s when it was a decent course. This course has really been neglected and gone downhill big time.

The course is in good shape and offers a good challenge especially for beginners with tight fairways. The only knock about this course is that is cost over $90 on a Friday with power cart. Pretty expensive for a local muni golf track.
