What People Say

In summary

Tarandowah Golfers Club is widely praised for its challenging and authentic links-style layout, with well-maintained greens and unique hole designs that attract golfers from various regions. The staff is frequently commended for their friendliness, and the course is noted for its reasonable pricing, especially when booking online specials. However, some visitors criticize the minimal clubhouse amenities, lack of GPS in golf carts, and occasional slow pace of play. Despite these drawbacks, many golfers appreciate the course's distinct character and continue to return for its engaging golfing experience.

Great links course... Club house is very Spartan and the driveway is gravel but don't let that fool you. This is a very good course.,. Staff very friendly. Greens were excellent and tough. Lots of bunkers and playing here for the first time is difficult because placing the ball is paramount.... Target golf on some holes for sure. Know your distances before you wail away. Loved it.

Very challenging links course. Had some hurricane winds today, which made it even more fun, really hurt the scorecard.

I have had the pleasure of playing at Tarandoah a few times per year, since about 2023. This course is fantastic. It’s a true links feel and it seems to have improved each year with attention to an authentic links style layout. I’ve started to bring groups from the Kitchener Waterloo region and it is totally worth the drive, really only 40 minutes. Have have returned multiple times and will continue to next season.

Well I played the Players Club two days in a row this week and would play it every day if I could. An hour and half from west Mississauga but well worth the drive. Price is as good as you could ask for. $70 approximate. Played the tips at 7,250 as it was set up according to the starter. If you treat the course as an adversary, it will win and it will hurt. Lol. The course is so challenging, embracing it is the only way to enjoy your day. The design is so particular and subtle, from the greens which welcome a 180 yard dart to 10 feet only to have it roll at an almost imperceptible speed 30 feet…

UPDATE ... October 23, 2024 It was a glorious day out on the links today. Hardly anyone out. Well, y'all missed out. Light wind, sun was shining, and the course is playing better than other courses in prime time. Greens are spectacular. Autumn colours on the trees. Check out new photos. First round of the year was FANTASTIC! Course conditions were outstanding. Greens were in great shape. Better condition at Tarandowah in February than most courses in the summer. UPDATE ... May 12, 2023 The greens are back to their all-around great condition again. Remnants of aeration are evident, but putt…

Tarandowah Golfers Club is located just off the 401 Highway halfway between Toronto and Detroit. Online it has a cult-like following. People drive hours to the heart of Canada’s dairyland to play it. It was designed by Martin Hawtree who is a third generation British architect. He’s worked on Ballybunion, Portmanock, Royal Birkdale and Sunningdale. It’s his only North American course. Tarandowah’s clubhouse is marginally better than a Quonset hut. The cart paths are well worn gravel and the gas-powered golf carts don’t have GPS. But after first appearances the course didn’t have any weak ho…

This course was recommended to me. I do not know why… Very expensive $120 for a round with a cart. The cart did not have any gps on there. For $120 a round you would think this would be included. The “club house” was a garden shed with barely anything in it. The putting green did not have any mini flags or pins… There was equipment and garbage all over the starting area. Doors swinging open on equipment sheds that could have easily been closed. The sand traps were pot holes that were 15 feet tall. Did I mention it was $120 for a round?! Wild wild price. No cart person or half way hut for drink…

I love this track. Very challenging, but also fair and rewards good shots. When the greens are as firm as they were today, you can find yourself out of position around the greens in a heartbeat. Greens always roll true and the bunkers are legitimate hazards. It's a long drive for me to Tarandowah, but I keep coming back every year and it's always worth it.

This is a great course! Not your typical course as it is a links style. The bunkers were well maintained. I have played here in the past when the bunkers weren’t that great but that seems to be turned around. I like the appeal of the fescue around the bunkers. Play the appropriate tees as the wind can sure change the game. Ate fries after the round they were tasty with a nice hint of sea salt! I always come back here once a year. One of my favourite places to play!

This place was amazing. True links style golf in its purest form. I had the pleasure of being able to get out this past week & experience it first hand. The course is extremely well maintained, the staff are super friendly, and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I had an amazing time and will be back!

I've played this course about 3 times over the years, with the most recent being this past week. Took advantage of the Wednesday special for $60 including a cart (book online). No question it's a links style course. Get off the fairway and you may never see your ball again. Going into one of the many pot bunkers (lots of them) will cost you strokes in most cases. Fairways are hard pan and sloped in many cases, including towards bunkers. Greens when we played were not running as fast I thought they might. Experienced some slow play, but overall not bad. The tee off areas were in rough shape o…

I’ve been traveling quite a distance at least 15 to 20 times per golf season to play Tarandowah Golf Course. Whether you’re playing the tips, the reds, or anywhere in between this golf course and the staff are nothing short of outstanding. It’s by far one of my favourites and I’ve played a lot of courses. The more we play the more I appreciate the nuances and challenges this golf course has to offer.
