What People Say

In summary

The Bluffs on Thompson Creek is highly regarded for its unique and challenging Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, scenic views, and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the overall course layout and the quality of the fairways and greens, although some have noted issues with the condition of the sand traps and cart paths. While the restaurant receives positive feedback for its food and ambiance, there have been occasional complaints about maintenance and customer service, particularly regarding booking and cancellation policies.

The golf course is a very unique layout and one of the only course around with hills. I would have enjoyed it more if the greens were in better shape. For $86 weekend green fee, it should have been in much better shape.

I played here a year or so ago at the urging of some friends. Its a great place and worth the drive from Baton Rouge. If it reopens I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

One of the best tracts I’ve played in the United States. All 3 par 5s are phenomenal. #4 and #17 are great par 3s with many unique par 4s in the mix. The staff was great. I was lucky to catch a mid week round. Was told it’s busy on the weekends but I’d go back and play this course again even if it was packed.

Great place to relax, take in the view and enjoy a meal. Good food. A little pricey, butt three view and the ambiance are up there.

This great course is on its way back. My group played there the last 2 Wednesdays and really enjoyed the course. Fairways were great and greens for the most part were great too. Sand traps still need work but that takes more time and effort so improving the greens and fairways is were the emphasis should be anyway. We ate at the restaurant after and enjoyed the food which we felt was at a fair price. We will be back soon.

Tournament worthy greens and fairways. Awesome pro shop and super friendly staff. It was an absolute joy to play.

Definitely one of the best golf experiences you can have in the Baton Rouge area, but that's a fairly low bar these days. Staff was great, course was mostly in very good condition; greens were not flawless for sure but vastly better than the best BREC has to offer. Other reviewers have mentioned the jarring cart paths in places, and I can confirm that they can be quite rough in more than a few spots—golfers with false teeth would be advised to keep their mouths closed to avoid loosing any dental hardware. Overall, though, a really good day of golf at The Bluffs.

I lived there with my family for over a decade. It's a great place to grow up. A great place to play golf and learn the value of a clean up and down game. Though the restaurant has a tendency to switch head chefs and/or management it has stayed a great little place to eat.

Awesome course layout, beautiful views, all at a reasonable price. Everyone is very nice from staff to the members. The food was excellent, had the club sandwich and sweet potato fries and it was only $9. This place is a treasure.

I would recommend for a family trip, vacation. Nice and cozy rooms. This is not a chain hotel so the expectation is a little different. But overall our family had a good stay during a good tournament there. Can't beat staying within walking distance to the course. Of course due to covid 19, a lot of services were not available but the service was still very nice and quaint.

I haven't been to The Bluffs to play for about 15 years and wanted to take my son. Conditions were horrible due to recent rains, so play was sloppy and cartpath only. Scenery was still as pretty due to the Fall foliage. Can't complain about anything due to the weather. The winter rate could be a little less -- found it to be a little pricey. The grill and driving range were closed also. No practice and no food. Didn't plan for that...
