⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A True Hidden Gem in Upstate NY Absolutely love this course. The Golf Club of Newport delivers everything you’d want in a classic upstate New York golf experience scenic views, a thoughtful layout, and incredibly well-maintained greens and fairways. The elevation changes and bunkers make for a fun, challenging round, but it’s still approachable for golfers of all levels. You can tell the staff takes real pride in the course it’s in fantastic shape every time I play. Plus, for the price, it’s one of the best values in the area. Peaceful, welcoming, and just a great place to spend a day…

As a former member, it is always a pleasure to return to play a round at one of my favorite courses anywhere. The new clubhouse is beautiful, the food delicious and the staff is friendly. HOWEVER… The traditionally slow greens are even SLOWER than ever. The greens are expansive and the slow greens make for a frustrating experience, complete with several 3-putts. The grain of the greens is thick, causing many putts to come up frustratingly short despite trying to adjust all day. Cutting the greens shorter, then several rollings to speed things up is HIGHLY recommended. Otherwise this beautiful…

Definitely a must play if you’re in the Utica/Poland NY area. Very challenging course from 1st tee to 18 green. I suggest that you play it with someone that knows the layout. Although the fairways are very generous, shot placement on several holes is paramount. Greens are above average size, so don’t be afraid to challenge the flags. You won’t find a more picturesque setting. Absolutely gorgeous golf course.

Beautiful, well kept course with amazing scenery. I was delightfully surprised. They also have a great deal on Wednesdays where you get a round of golf with a cart and lunch at the turn which includes a cheeseburger, bag of chips, pickles, a slice of watermelon and a beer for only $30! Will definitely revisit this course when I return to the area. Oh and I'd say it's medium in difficulty.

Had our midyear league tournament at the course. Wonderful, helpful staff , they made the experience for us in charge very easy. All facets of the event were covered and the food was great. Thanks to all working that day it was a sucess.

We traveled from CT to play our Ryder Competition against our club friend and the course did not dissapoint. Especially around this time of year. The fairway was cleared of leaves, the grass was cut perfectly and the green was amazing! I also want to give 10 stars to the staff. They were great and accommodated to all of our requests. I wish all pro shop were like these guys. I never truly experienced any kind of service like this through all my life playing golf. The only bad thing about the course is there were no cart girl, but it was understandable because they are in college. Overall I gi…

I've played every course in about a 50 mile radius, from Albany to Syracuse, and GCON is the best. To beat it for conditions you have to spend $160 at least, but with a comparably beautiful layout by Geoffrey Cornish, pure greens, and only $50 for 18, it can't be beat. The new owner is bringing it back to its former glory and, while I don't know his plans, I wouldn't be surprised if he and the course surpass it's historic beauty and become the signature course in CNY.

Weather permitting (as imo this course does not drain the best), bar none this is my favorite course in the entire Mohawk Valley. The combination of the layout, how well it's maintained, the affordability, hole variety, scenery, wildlife, and the fact it's 5 mins from my house can't be beat. Selfishly, I just worry this hidden gem won't remain as hidden as it has been, with the brand new club house, restaurant sim bays, and golf carts that have made this place even better.

You can see that the place is improving and getting into shape. The greens were painfully slow but the course was nice overall. The staff was great and I'm sure it will be a top rated course in the future.

Really enjoy this course. Not long, but just pleasant to play. I have two main complaints: 1) the greens are usually too slow; and 2) the course closes way too early on Fridays/weekends. For example, went there to play a quick nine in the summer at around 6:30 (doesn't get dark until about 9:00) and they wouldn't let us out... Not even walking. So we drove to another local course and played there. Early closing is why I don't become a member here as I enjoy playing in the evening. But again, 5 stars... my favorite golf course in the area.

What a great place to play golf! Well-kept, challenging, yet fun layout, friendly people, some really great golf holes. If you don't mind a 90-minite ride from Albany, then by all means, make a tee time at Golf Club of Newport. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait to go back.
