In summary

Tomahawk Hills Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic, hilly layout with unique and challenging holes, often described as a hidden gem with good value. Many visitors commend the friendly and welcoming staff, as well as the course's overall condition, especially the fairways and greens. However, some golfers have noted that the tee boxes and certain greens could use more maintenance, and the course's hilly terrain may not be ideal for walking. Additionally, there are mixed reviews about the clubhouse staff's friendliness and the condition of amenities.

This is a great course. Haven't played it, but have watched my daughter play there for school many times. It's a nice course, well kept and has some complexity to it. Not sure if you can walk the course, but I wouldn't. It has a l huge hill before #4 and there's distance between maybe if the holes.

Just played today. Course is in good shape but the tee boxes were pretty rough...C- grade. I chipped today and that area is way off the beaten track. I walked and this course isn't really meant to be walked anymore. The marshals do help walkers up a couple steep and winding hills and are happy to give us tips on those holes. There was probably a sign but I never saw one. And there's noApril 2020:I haven't played the course in 20 years and I found the course hasn't changed much.. Some interesting holes. Very hilly and a challenging but doable (cuz I did) walking/carrying clubs course. Golf shop…

This morning was the 1st time we played this course & what a lovely surprise! The golf Marshall's were warm, welcoming & friendly. The other golfers were kind, considerate & maintained a nice rate of play. Was also nice not to hear obscenities being screamed. We thought the greens & fairways were in great shape. We only played 9 but we will be back. Fraction of the price of other JoCo courses. A hidden gem for sure.

It was an interesting course. On hole #5 you have to look up in a mirror to see if the group in front of you has cleared the green. Hole #7 is a roller coaster of ups and downs. (Pictures included) Both holes #9 and #18 are elevated tee boxes that you need to step forward to get an idea of where the flags are. Like the gal at check in suggested drop down 2 clubs for these tee shots. It has been dry out and there are spots that could use a little maintenance, but overall we had a great experience.

Out of all the public courses that I’ve played in the Johnson County Kansas City metro area this one is the second worst. The course is very hilly and the tea boxes and greens are very poorly taken care of.

Local "historic" JOCO golf course that is definitely worth your golf list. It is holly tree lined, creeks and #9 and #18 have par 3's that are shots off cliff settings!! Makes you think of Ozark golf holes. Fun to do.

For $42, there are dozens of courses in the metro area you should play instead of Tomahawk. The greens are absurdly shaped humps surrounded by mud (a weedkilling gone awry), the tee boxes are sloped, sandy, and weedy, and the rough is sometimes grassy and sometimes thatchy and sometimes bare. There is no redeeming quality to find for architecture nerds, either. I read that they put $2m into the course, but I honestly can’t see where the money went. You’re better served spending $42 and playing 9 up the road at the excellent Falcon Valley.

I tried Tomahawk because I had a coupon for $20 and couldn't find a better course on short notice. I wouldn't pay $20 to play here again. The greens were slow and some in bad shape. There was one green in particular where I had to putt through a huge dead spot about 6 paces wide. I had no chance to make that putt. The fairways were in great shape but that was about it. Rough and greens leave a lot to be desired. It does have some fun holes, but one time is enough to play this one.

It had been too long since I visited Tomahawk Hills - maybe 10 to 12 years. A recent visit revealed the newer clubhouse and facilities. First rate. I have to commend the staff for their friendliness and cheerful nature at 6:30am. Very welcoming. Course was in great condition: tee boxes flat, fairways lush, the rough was workable. We found the greens in good condition and rolled true. Love the rolling hills and trees. Creeks and trees made it an honest challenge. A few deer along the way to help find my wayward tee shots. Good $$$ value.

Good greens and course overall, there are quite a few dead spots. But I’m docking stars for any courses that don’t provide water at the holes that have water crates during the summer. It’s hot and I think it’s a simple curtesy to put water on the course, but that’s my opinion of course.

Still cart path, greens really fast. Quite a bit of maintenance going on. In pretty good shape for winter/spring.

Cannot corroborate what some have said about their experience with the marshals as that can oftentimes be the "gripe" about many courses. My son and I went there this morning and were greeted in a friendly and professional manner by Joe and a Ms. Huffman (sorry, had to look at my receipt). I had called Joe the previous day and told him I hadn't played for quite some time and was concerned about holding people up and was wondering what the chances were of us being able to play without someone else being paired with us and he said he was pretty confident they could make that happen. We passed by…
