Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course is an absolute gem and one of the best public golf experiences you’ll find anywhere in the region. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, the course offers a layout that is both challenging and fair, with classic design elements that reward smart shot-making while remaining enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels. The course conditions reflect the pride and care put into this facility. It’s clear that a lot of attention goes into making sure the course plays great and looks even better. The brand-new clubhouse, which adds a modern, welcoming feel and…

Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course is one of best golf courses in the Capital Region. Definitely an overlooked hidden gem! The course is challenging and yet fair due to it's length and it's design. The course is kept in very good shape. It is easy to make tee times and course rates are some of the best in the area. Local knowledge is definitely applicable on the course as ball placement and distance are key on many holes. The course was designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones during the Great Depression. The use of the natural area, large greens, and bunker placement make it a…

Everyone was really polite and helpful. It was a quiet day when I was down here. The warden checked in with us several times to make sure we didn't need anything. It seems like everyone is pretty good about repairing or filling their pitch marks. The driving range is in the middle of the course. So you have to either hike in or get a cart. You bring and chase your own balls on their driving range. But (at least when I was there) it's free to use.

I was traveling for work in Upstate NY and I decided to pack my clubs. One of my meetings in Saratoga got canceled so I had nothing to do in the afternoon before I needed to be in Rochester the following day. Went to their online reservation system and noticed a mostly open afternoon, but unfortunately they don't let you book singles online (from my experience some courses do, and some don't and I get why some don't). I decided to make the trip anyway since it wasn't too far out of the way and I was greeted by a nice gentleman in the parking lot who said I could play as a single. The price…

Beautiful, well maintained golf course and very reasonably priced. It’s great that the golf carts are included in the price. My husband and I went to play fall golf and had a great time.

The course is in good shape dispit all our recent down pour. Fairways were lush and although greens were just airiated we still had a great time. Love how the pine trees frame all the fairways.

We have so many nice golf courses in the area, and this is one! Its a lot of fun to play and affordable. 2025 UPDATE: It is very disappointing to report, the course is no longer affordable. Municipal golf courses are intended to be an affordable local option to play golf, since they are tax-exempt and usually non-profit. Somehow, Amsterdam Muni is now the most expensive 18 holes of golf in the area at $59 - more than the privately owned clubs that have to pay lots of money to taxes. Furthermore, management doesn't honor the reciprocal agreement allowing members of partnering clubs in the area…

Great golf course! Nice long par 5's. Big greens, interesting pin placements near edges make it a challenge with some of the faster, hard breaking greens. Very nicely marked holes, great running carts. Friendly staff

I have played this course since the early 1980's. It was always a gem until last year, and all I can say is now, after a change of management, while the course is in decent condition, the manner in which it is (mis)managed is atrocious! They really need a starter in the little starter shed at the first tee. And a damn ranger to monitor pace of play. We had a set tee time, and others, who were either late, or clueless lied about their time, and teed off ahead of us and slowed things down. This was finally alleviated when the pokey people who cut in front of us stopped after the first nine. F…

Amsterdam Muni is in incredible shape this summer (2023) even with all the extreme heat. The people are very friendly and helpful. The course is fairly open but don't let that make you overly confident. There are plenty of challenging shots and the greens require a well thought-out putt. Nothing is a given. The price is the same if you walk or ride and it's probably the best golf value in the Capital Region. I make the trip from Niskayuna about once a month because it is that good.
