In summary

Barona Creek Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic views, challenging layout, and friendly staff, with some visitors praising the course's condition and amenities. However, many reviews express concerns about the course's dryness and maintenance issues, with some mentioning that only nine holes are open and the course is not accessible to the general public. Absolute shame. This used to be a top 5 course in all of San Diego in my opinion. I just can't understand how it's come to this (been over 5 years now). Only 9 holes open, only casino regulars can play, and the course is brown as can be. I had hope that one day this course would get back to it's glory days but the Barona management who own the casino clearly don't use any of the money they make in the casino to put towards the golf course.

To say this was a disappointment is a complete understatement. Let the pictures speak for themselves. The fact they charged us $160 per person and it was a 5-hour round with no one moving people along is nothing short of robbery! The only reason I gave one star was because people there were nice. Laughably, Golf Digest just rated this course #25 on the 2021 list of Top 50 courses in California. Clearly none of the raters have played it. This used to be a beautiful, lush course that has been let go. It is worse than a pasture.

Thank you for your customer service. I appreciate the hard work from kitchen to the table service! The golf course staff is awesome too! Now, if I can only figure out how to get rated correctly... I've got to be missing something. Seems like $300-900/ BJ hand doesn't rate the same as $5-8/spin on $.01 slots...doesn't add up in my calculation! Anyways, I still love coming back!

The whole course wasn't open. They had nine holes open. A lot of big brush all trough the course.

I really want to give this course 5 stars, such a beautiful layout, beautiful location and exceptional staff. So much potential! However management and the course conditions are perhaps the worst I’ve seen. No putting green here, just mowed fairways and a flagsticks. Been this way for almost a year now. Lack of natural resources has left it parched for water. Management doesn’t allow public access. What could be a San Diego gem has turned into deserted unplayable course. Hope things change for them and the return of the Barona golf course I once knew.

Course is not in great shape but the people in the pro shop and snack bar are awesome. Fairways are looking pretty good, however the greens took a turn for the worse. They punched and sanded the greens and hopefully the will come back soon. Play is usually pretty quick and price is right if you have a diamond member.

Not really sure how people are giving this 5 stars. I’ve played it twice in the last 3 months (December and May) and both times the place was dryer than a popcorn fart. Your hitting off of hard dirt 99% of the time even if you’re on the fairway. Great layout, has a lot of potential but water the dang place every once in a while. I won’t be back until they do. On a positive note, the staff is always very pleasant.

Best golf course in the city. Wish they could get their water situation ironed out, but still great no less.
