In summary

Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course is appreciated for its beautiful layout, well-maintained greens, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice among golfers. The course offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience with its rolling hills and scenic setting. However, some visitors have noted issues such as the lack of a driving range, occasional drainage problems leading to wet areas, and inconsistent service in the clubhouse. Additionally, there are mixed reviews regarding the pace of play and staff interactions, with some finding them less than satisfactory.

Great layout and the course was in excellent condition. But for a lack of a driving range and some of tee boxes that needed care, this easily could be a 5 star rating. The pace of play was really good. The course marshalls/ambassadors were professional and polite. A challenging layout that I will play again even though it is a 45 minute drive for me.

Big applause to the staff on Saturday (17th of January). Foggy conditions pushed back tee times, to help move things along (and safety), they had spotters out on the first few holes checking fairways and giving the group the all clear to hit. Well done!

Beautiful course--not too modern and not too easy either. Rolling hills. Forgiving on distance but challenging enough. Great twilight fee only $28--probably could have finished 18 if we tried. Not busy so we could go as a twosome. Easy to walk and carry. Good taps at the 19th hole too.

This course looks beautiful initially and, if better maintained, would be fun to play. Parts of the course now have water features under the trees due to poor drainage, which is further evident by how slow some of the greens are. This also had the secondary effect of being a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos, as my group learned in the back 9. Bring your bug repellent... Also paired with the less-than-standard maintenance, prepare to be rushed the entire round by marshalls who have nothing better to do than sit there and hover over you, should someone call and complain, while paying no at…

The food was great as always — kudos to the kitchen staff for consistently delivering excellent meals. However, I’m giving this a 2‑star review because of the bar manager’s behavior toward another employee. I witnessed her speaking to an employee in a rude and disrespectful manner multiple times, and doing so in front of both staff and customers. This kind of conduct shouldn’t be acceptable in any workplace, especially one that relies on good service and a positive atmosphere. I genuinely enjoy the food here, but I hope management addresses this issue before it affects the overall experience…

I love Bartley, it’s my favorite of the City courses. It isn’t a hard track, pretty short compared to most. You can definitely put up a nice score out there but it has enough variety to keep it interesting. Conditions are usually pretty good- I have never played it and felt like it was in bad shape with the weather considered. Staff is always really nice, they probably have the most consistent beverage cart program in Sac, and the food is good in the clubhouse. Pace of play is pretty much the same as any other muni around here so I don’t see it as anything worth complaining about. Overall just…

Bartley Cavanaugh is a hidden gem to me. You would not realize that this course is as expansive as it is nestled between Southbound I-5 and the Sacramento River. There were many wet areas with casual water along the course. This was mainly due to the amount of water needed to keep the course green. The fairways were mostly narrow bordered by rolling hills. If your tee shot strayed, you were penalized with an uneven lay or trees in your line. The greens were quick but fair. It's really easy to roll a putt by leaving a lengthy comebacker. The clubhouse staff was warm and welcoming. Due to lack…

Beautiful course, fantastic bar and pro shop, day couldn’t of been better other than them running out of crown 🥃.

The course itself is nice, but the warm up area needs a lot of love. The beverage cart passed my group four times without coming to us as well.

One of the best golf course in Sacramento, CA 18 holes 🕳️ course only no driving range practice here. (Which I definitely recommend them to have) All level of players can have genuine fun out here. It’s not crowded at all! Go out there and have fun 🤩
