In summary

Battle Island State Golf Course is praised for its well-maintained fairways and greens, challenging layout, and scenic setting along the Oswego River. The course is complemented by friendly staff and a popular on-site restaurant, Kristen's Kitchen, which enhances the overall experience. However, some visitors have noted issues with customer service and the condition of certain facilities, such as older carts and uneven tee boxes.

Nice state course, with very challenging greens. Course is on the shorter side, but still can be tricky if you're not in the short grass. About the only thing New York does correct, affordable golf at their courses.

Although I have never golfed there so I cannot review the golf course or restaurant, but I can say that during winter the place transforms into a beautiful scene of open rolling hills, mature hardwood forest and abundant wildlife. There's a path approximately 2.5 miles around the circumference that is great for cross country skiing as well as snowshoeing. Plenty of big hills if you want to go sledding. I've seen Bald Eagles, Osprey,Deer,Fox and Fischers while hiking there. There is no charge and the parking lot is plowed well all winter

Had a great time. Course is fun and challenging at times. Well maintained fairways and greens. Highly recommend checking this place out. The restaurant/bar above the Pro Shop had great food and friendly staff. Had the lobster bisque, absolutely phenomenal, and ghost pepper rubbed hot wings. Really tasty and good heat. My buddy had the bang bang shrimp and the pizza burger. He said both were great as well.

I visited this wonderful place, I am a decorator and I went to decorate the place for a wedding, I was very well attended, and the owner of the local, a very beautiful, attentive, and sociable girl. Thank you

Another Trent Jones gem. Super fun. Lots of risk reward and some diabolical greens. Not the most pristine conditions but the layout makes up for it. Great food and service as well. Hi Michelle;)

NYS tax dollars helping improve golf course conditions. Club house staff curtius and professional. Restaurant staff very friendly and accommodating with excellent service and great food. Enjoyed very much.

Decent course. Looks like they quit watering the greens, but the state is cheap. Kristen's Restaurant runs the food and carts and its too notch. The state workers are pleasant and good at what they do. The course is a solid layout. Most tee boxes are unlevel. Greens are getting cooked and bumpy. But they spent 7 figures on new asphalt by the clubhouse and a new wall, also by the club house. Bad allocation of funds. Whoever is running the golf course seems ignorant about the actual game of golf.

0/10 recommend this golf course… terrible customer service. We called to let them know we might be a few minutes late, as a courtesy, but we were 4 minutes early for the scheduled “tee time”. The lady was not friendly over the phone and said something along the lines of them not being able to accommodate if we weren’t here right on time. Then they weren’t friendly once we got to the carts about having to pay for one person to just ride along.. the vibes and environment just are not great. Then an employee walked over to the cart, to raise their voice not to stop to look both ways while driving…

Nice course to play, It's State owned so veterans play for free. No sand traps to help keep play going.
