What People Say

In summary

Bear Lake County Highlands, now known as Wolf River Golf Preserve, is praised for its excellent course conditions, challenging layout, and friendly staff. Golfers appreciate the recent upgrades, including improved greens and bunkers, making it a popular choice for players of all levels. However, some visitors mention issues with cart paths, confusing signage, and a lack of yard markers, which can detract from the overall experience.

End of September had an excellent price $25 for 18 holes plus tax, $20 for a cart, I walked it for $25. Very doable. Nice track difficult greens, nothing is flat! Fast greens… the cart paths need a little bit of attention but other than that course is in great condition

I was on vacation with my family for a week in late July. I played the course on the first day of arrival. I liked it so much that I played 3 more times. The course is in great shape. Greens are large, fast and had a fun flag locations.

Great track!! Would recommend for all level golfers. Saw an article Wolf River rated top courses in Michigan to play under $100 and it did not disappoint. Will definitely be back ⛳️🏌️‍♂️clubhouse staff was friendly and course was in phenomenal shape this last in the season. Greens were firm with pace. Fairways kept well.

This was a standout star of my golf trip which included Forest Dunes. The redesign is incredible. Amazing single fescue conditions. Wish this was my daily course

Course just re-opened & they nailed it. Formerly Bear Lake Highlands, they removed a lot of trees, added undulation to greens, re-sodded the whole course, made it all one cut, and re-did all the bunkers + added some new ones. Long story short, it was a ton of fun. Little River Casino Resort seems to be putting a lot of time & money into the course & it deserves a job well done. If you’re coming up to play Arcadia and are looking for some other stops, this is your place!

There is a new contender for the best hidden gem in Michigan golf but I don't think it will be hidden for very long. You can feel the influence from courses like Crystal Downs, Kingsley Club, Arcadia Bluffs, the Loop at Forest Dunes as you discover each hole. It feels like classic golf architecture built just a few years ago by the Superintendent Steven Biehl. Every green, tee, bunker and fairway built by hand by one person with a fantastic vision. This is one, like the others listed, that you need to play a few times or go with someone who knows it. You will learn something new every time whi…

I played here in late August as part of a mid Michigan golf extravaganza. Over three days I played 6 or 7 courses in the Ludington / Manistee area. Although there isn't a warm up facility, they do have a great price for a phenomenal course. It's a lot like a a course I play every year in my rota called Diamond Springs (also highly rated) only much, much better. Lots of challenging holes and some elevation changes, fairways and greens were in great shape. I highly recommend WRGP and hope to play there again.

Had a great time at this course! Cool terrain, the course was in good shape, and they had friendly staff! One suggestion may be to add yard markers/taller flags as that was a bit disorienting, but overall it rocked!

The day was beautiful and the greens where good enough but the electric golf cart dien on hole 15 was lame. We called it a day and drove back to the club house and left.

We were camping up north for a long weekend and played 2 days in a row! What a hidden gem!! The employees were so wonderful and the course was really well-taken care of. The price was right! Will definitely be back next time we are up that way.

I rarely post on things like this but will this time as this course has so much potential and is under relatively new ownership that is clearly investing in making improvements. First the positive. This track of land is beautiful! It has heather, mature trees, streams and ponds and is rolling. The fairways are wide and well maintained and the greens are enormous, complex and has interesting new bunkers. It is fairly priced unlike many in the many. Negatives include poor cart paths and very confusing markers for the various tees. The scorecard is nearly useless as the distances aren’t at all ac…

Used to be a member at this Course back when it was Beat Lake Highlands. Course is still nice, but new management is awful. Really rude. Played 9 at twilight. Finished in time to play another 9. The cashier wanted to charge us the full rate again instead of the 18 hole rate. Never mentioned that to start. When we pointed out we paid already for nine he basically said too bad, you don't get the 18 hole rate. Know a lot of other people who have had bad experiences with management.
