In summary

Big Spring Lake Golf is generally appreciated for its friendly and professional staff, as well as its fun and challenging course layout. Many visitors find the greens and fairways to be in good condition, although some have experienced issues with maintenance, such as rough tee boxes and temporary greens. While the atmosphere is often described as relaxed and welcoming, a few guests have noted concerns about course management and the presence of non-golfers on the course.

This was my first time playing here and it was a great experience. There was a small pricing mix-up, but the staff handled it professionally and generously comped the round for my friend and me. The course was in great shape, and I’ll definitely be back. My only minor complaint is that a few holes were a bit hard to find—but now I know for next time!

Good golf outing here. Greens In good shape grass around greens was short so putting from 6 feet from edge was doable. Plenty of challenges on this course

Overall, it was an okay experience. Played it for the first time after hearing some mixed reviews about the course. Greens were in pretty decent shape for not being in the growing season. Had a few questionable pin locations but nothing to complain about. However the tee boxes and fairways were in very rough shape. Multiple tee boxes with no grass and top dressed with sand, fairways were okay. Some bare spots but nothing you wouldn’t see on any other public course. The main reason for the poor review is the maintenance crew and management. Pro shop staff was nice, however saw multiple kids jus…

On vacation from Canada and we came to play 18 holes here. Yes the course is somewhat in rough shape. BUT it was such a fun course, and if I could give a 5 star just to the wonderful friendly staff, I would. The gentleman at the proshop, the women who cooked us a fantastic burger, and even the friendly guys taking care of the grounds. If we come this way next year, we will definitely be coming back to this course. Trust us, try this golf course!

Absolutely had the best time today! Marsh in the Pro Shop was A1 he showed us some things about the lay out and gave us some pointers going in. The course was fun and challenging. Will be back for sure!!!

I want to thank Marsh and his staff for a wonderful tournament! The course has made a lot of progress over the year and they’re working to make it even better. Carts have been replaced and are very well suited for the course, the pro shop has added a TON of inventory, and overall you can see that the ownership is willing and able to continue to make this a fantastic venue. Talking with Marsh about the future, you’re gonna continue to see progress and professionalism.

Played here in the past but has been a while. Played Saturday and was surprised at the $48 fee but thought maybe the course was better than I remembered so onward I went. Several greens were in bad shape and two or three greens were temporary greens. No way this course is worth $48. Can not recommend this course. *Upgrading to 3stars Doing a follow up. Played this course again the week before Christmas. This was about the only course open due to impending cold temperatures coming as other courses were covering their greens. For whatever reason, the greens were better than the last time I play…

If I could give this course 0 stars, I would. This has to be the worst golf course I have ever been to. I've golfed nearly every course in the state of Alabama and this is easily the worst one, price considered as well. The conditions are mediocre at best they have no control over who is walking on the golf course. You may tee off and wonder if you just hit either a car or someone walking on nearly every cart path. They had a pit of fire on the 2nd hole. I've never witnessed something like that before. A fire on a golf course?!?! Is that normal? I don't think so. If that tells you anything a…
