In summary

Big Sugar Golf Club in Northwest Arkansas is praised for its challenging layout, scenic views, and friendly staff. Many golfers appreciate the well-maintained greens and unique course design that offers a variety of challenges. However, some reviews mention inconsistent course maintenance, particularly with tee boxes and fairways, and note issues with slow play and cart path conditions. Despite these concerns, the course is generally seen as a fun and engaging experience for those looking for a demanding round of golf.

Welcome to the hardest course and the best kept secret in golf in Northwest Arkansas. I almost hate to review it because honestly it’s nice that everyone else goes to stand and wait in Bella Vista or chooses the overcured and too expensive Lindsey courses. For being a public course in Pea Ridge, this is the best challenge you’re going to get. It has a par 3 on the front nine that you WILL use your driver to get to the green with. You WILL have to hit it correctly or bring an extra box. This is buddy golf at its finest. Prepare to be humbled.

I’ve played this course or around my birthday the last few years and it always amazes me how good the course looks this late in the year. Very challenging course, you start your day off on a 590 yard par five. 3 of the last 4 finishing holes are pretty tough as well, but a blast if you like and respect placement courses. Greens were in excellent condition and free of leaves.

Go play Big Sug with your boys and have a blast. Greens are pure, layout is fantastic and the fella working the pro shop is cool as can be. Don’t expect perfect, expect a good time in God’s country. #TipsAreOpen

Played Saturday 10/19 for first time and will return for many rounds as daughter will be a Razorback next year. The staff were beyond friendly and inviting. Before round, nice guy in clubhouse recommended club selection and shot placement as first time players. Before more about experience, I’d encourage folks to read about the last few years about the course. It’s mending from a difficult time and needs time, rain and $$ to get to its prime. Clubhouse The night before we joined family for rehearsal dinner. Staff were great and facilities very clean. It was that experience that had us cxl te…

A gem of a golf course off the beaten path outside Bentonville arkansas. Certainly glad I found it. Friendly staff right from the very beginning. I was by myself and they paired me up with one of their local golfers. We had a very good time playing around the golf course. It has lots of twists and turns ups and downs and a couple of risk reward holes. Your shots have to be accurate on many of the holes to be able to hit your second shot towards the green. Lots of meandering streams but you also have to head over. Elevated tee box is heading down lower t-box is hitting up. This was a very chall…

I love Big Sugar. The scenery, hole design, and threat of serious bodily injury on the cart paths combine to make a wonderful golf experience. I came up from OKC specifically to play Big Sugar and intend to go back in the fall. The course is challenging in the best way and greens are immaculate. Seriously, be careful on the cart path it can be treacherous.

Really enjoyed playing this extremely challenging course. You might think by looking at hole 1 or the holes driving into the course is flat. But, after you get to hole 2 you realize it has some beautiful mountainous views. That's also where the challenge begins. The greens are perfect, but a little slower than I am used to. Definitely bring your A game, but definitely go.

Played here more recently. Course has gone way downhill. Surrounded by amazing scenery and high end homes, lies a course you couldn't pay me to play. Really nice people, fun layout and some awesome turn food offerings. Course could really use some attention though. Tee boxes were shaggy, greens were extremely inconsistent and in some cases unplayable, and cart paths had a lot of washouts. Put a little money into the place and it would be a true gem in NWA

Played front and back on separate days. Both were a lot of fun and challenging. The course far exceeded my skill level, but my son and I still had a good time. Staff members we met were friendly.

This is a tough course to rate. The layout is engaging, unique, and fun, but the conditions vary from decent to bad. Some tee boxes had markers but clearly hadn't been mown in months. Some fairways were lush while others were barren. On the other hand, the greens were in good shape and the layout provided some unique challenges that you can't get at most other courses. Pace of play was also excellent as the course was mostly empty. Overall, I could not see myself playing this course daily, but it is definitely a fun course to play every once in a while.

This was an ok golf course, but for the price($45), I was disappointed. The cart paths are either non-existent in some spots or very rough. The whole course needs some maintenance. There are tall Trees/tall grass trimming in front of tee-boxes that could use some serious trimming. The greens are in rough shape. Weeds everywhere, patchy. I really think this could be a great course, it’s in a great location, the scenery is wonderful and I actually really enjoyed the woodsy trail-like cart paths. Staff was friendly, helpful. Just wish the course was better maintained

The course is constantly in a state dis-repair, and you’re lucky if it got mowed this week. They send groups of 6 off routinely, so set aside 5+ hours if you want to get in 18. There are comparably priced memberships within 15mins of this course that offer significantly better course conditions and management.
