In summary

Black Bear Golf Club is frequently praised for its challenging and scenic layout, well-maintained greens, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among many visitors. The food and service at the club's restaurant receive high marks, with brunch being particularly popular. However, some guests have noted issues with the condition of the fairways and a limited drink selection at the bar, suggesting room for improvement in these areas.

The brunch is delicious! Shrimp and grits were gone to fast to capture a pic. Thank you Natalie for the most amazing service, and best experience!

As always, it's a great venue, challenging layout. The fairways are ample, the greens in great condition rolling smooth and well maintained. Excellent value. The food is wonderful with a full restaurant and bar.

Wish they had 630 tee times, but after speaking with the pro shop and grounds attendants they only have three guys to keep this course beautiful. Awesome layout with hazards everywhere. We were the first off so we had some water on the greens from them watering, but other than that great morning. Loved this course.

It's absolutely impossible for this course to have received so many stars. Don't be fooled! Here are some pictures of a green that clearly show its poor condition. The fairways are riddled with holes, making it nearly impossible to achieve good shots. Furthermore, the sand traps are virtually nonexistent. Although the layout of the course is pleasant, the overall conditions are the worst I've seen since Pete Brown and Pearl Municipal. The city should seriously reconsider their commitment to maintaining this place, as it is truly embarrassing!

This is the best course I’ve played in the area. It has a lot of character is very difficult. Par fours have some very difficult tea shots where if you don’t play them right you’re gonna have a tough time getting there in two. Best thing about this course was the greens. They were very consistent. Fairways weren’t the greatest this time but that is the expected this time of year. I would recommend playing if you’ve never played it before.

My company had an anniversary lunch here. I ordered the Smokey Mountain Burger, cooked medium. Burger was covered with a thin slice of ham , 2 pieces of crispy bacon and BBQ sauce with a brioche bun. I also had a side of Mac and Cheese with bacon bits. Very delicious !!! Staff was very friendly and service was great ! Would recommend to anyone. I plan on bringing my family back as soon as possible. May come back and play a round of golf also ! Edit: I thought I was reviewing Champions Bistro. I do however recommend the food and the golf course. !

Black Bear is a very fun yet difficult course with top tier facilities. The kitchen is incredible. While the greens are not perfect, the few greens with bad patches are overshadowed by the scenic fairways. You never know what wildlife you will see on the course.
