In summary

Black River Country Club receives praise for its challenging and well-maintained course layout, friendly staff, and reasonable pricing, making it a popular choice among golfers of various skill levels. However, some visitors have noted issues with course maintenance, such as overgrown grass, poorly maintained greens, and inadequate signage, which detract from the overall experience. Additionally, there have been concerns about customer service and event management, with some guests reporting negative interactions with management.

We recently played 9 holes at Black River on two separate days. The course was in amazing condition and the pro shop staff was as nice as you’ll find at a golf course. Any reviews about poor condition of the course are not indicative of how it is now. The course is challenging but fair for all skill sets. If I lived in PH I would become a member!

Terrible course, and for 45$!!!! Willow ridge is in better shape and it’s 13$ less. Absolutely terrible, this use to be a “Country Club” not it’s a s***hole. Major 👎🏻 ***Edit: this is the only course in town that looks like this. I can assure you no other course in the area is in this type of shape. Should really reevaluate how they take care of the greens.

Played 18 holes back in August while on a weekend getaway. The course was in fantastic condition, and the layout was both challenging and conducive to players at varying levels. Green fees and clubhouse pricing were well worth the investment. Friendly staff, good service, and tasty food. We'll be back next time through for sure!

Today I had the worst experience of my entire life with a business and that business is Black River Country Club. I had a $500 deposit with them for a class reunion since 2020. COVID shut it down in 2020 and then shut it down again in 2021. I have a signed contract extending the date to 7-26-2025. I have been coordinating the event since early February with the events coordinator Melissa. She told me that yes we are on the books and yes my $500 deposit is intact. Then 2 weeks ago she went dark...no emails, phone calls or texts were being returned. I then today got a call back from the incredib…

Course is in great condition and slope/elevation makes for some challenging golf! Greens are in amazing shape as well. The repositioning of holes can be a little tricky finding the next hole at times, should consider putting “next hole” signs ➡️

Course was in very good shape specially considering the rain the night before. The course has some very nice character and is fun to play. However, there are a few blind shots that become easier once you're more familiar with the course. I will play again. The staff was courteous and helpful. Fees are reasonable for a course with this quality.

We had a great round at Black River this morning. The place has for sure seen changes over the past several years but you can tell they are working hard to bring it back to life. The course itself is in good shape and holes of different challenging levels. The main reason for my review is the Superintendent Brian. As we were headed out he made a point to find us at our car after noticing we were from Ontario. He introduced himself and thanked us for giving the course a shot, explaining the work they are putting in to restore it. That customer service and personal touch means everything. We can…

I never leave reviews, but this is kind of crazy. I got here at 9:25 for my 9:40 tee time, and the course was already backed up by 4 groups. No big deal. But the 2 groups ahead of us are golfing in groups of 6, and are 60+ years old. It’s 10:15 and we still haven’t teed off. What course books two groups of 6 on a Saturday morning? Or any group of six? The course is in alright condition but this just makes me never want to come here again

This course was a lot of fun. Yes, it needs so live but the superintendent is really trying to improve everything. The greens are not any more damaged than any other small course. I loved putting on a slower surface- makes putting less intimidating. Overall it is very playable and we had fun. It’s an old style country club course so expect narrower fairways and beautiful trees. I’ll be back- I need to conquer #3. If you golf for fun than this is a must play. Plus you will not meet nicer people than the staff at BRCC.

Very nice course at a very nice price. Prices include cart, which is nice. Would have gotten 5 stars, but there was alot of broken branches (large ones) laying on alot of the holes. Also there was a few pieces of trash noted on the edges of the course. There was also no ball cleaners on the course. If these few things got some attention, I'd definitely give 5 stars. But I will definitely be returning.

I made a t time for my husband, father, son, and brother for Father's Day round of golf. I recently heard the course had been updated. When they got home they told me about all the trash over flowing and there weren't enough trash cans out on the course. They also said the grass was pretty long. Course looks run down. Would not recommend.
