In summary

Byron Hills Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful and challenging layout, with well-maintained fairways and greens that enhance the playing experience. The course's elevation changes and tight fairways offer a unique challenge, and the staff is generally regarded as friendly and professional. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about the pace of play and occasional issues with customer service, particularly regarding rain checks and interactions with marshals.

One of the most beautiful courses I've ever played. With rolling hills and dog leg challenges, makes me wish I lived closer. Candidly, I played the day after a massive storm so I didn't have to be concerned about pace of play that other people report. I will say, the course conditions after the storm were incredible. Whomever it is managing the course should be managing a professional course. I can see why the pace could slow down. With the elevation changes, you simply cannot tell where the players are in front of you at times. You're just not sure if you can tee off. There are risk reward ho…

We have played a lot of golf courses in Whiteside,Lee,and Bureau counties, but the gem of golf courses is Byron Hills located just outside Port Byron, Illinois. This course is well kept and managed. It by far is one of the most challenging courses in the area. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition, and it makes play more enjoyable. Very highly recommend making the trip to play here.

Course is in great shape, play just always seems a bit slower here than other courses in the area

3rd generation of a friendly, family owned coarse tucked away in the tiny town of Port Byron. The coarse is well taken care of and customers are treated professionally. State of the art simulator and great food.

Unfortunately this place is not very friendly to novice golfers. Staff didn't like the pace that we were going out there. They said we were going too slow. I was with one other experienced golfer and he communicated with the group behind us that I was unexperienced golfer and they are more than welcome to jump in front of us. We were the last group that was there and we were on the last hole. So not only did the people in my group leave, the people ahead of me did as well. They left after so many holes so I joined the team that was two teams ahead of me. So we basically knocked off an extra li…

Decent course. I only mark down one star because when hitting in hike 9 people walk across the fairway to get to the pitch and putt area. Not a big deal but the cheese has it's quirks.

Nice golf course with greens that roll true. Always well kept and in great shape. Some holes are a little tight but very fun course to play. Love the 3rd hole - dogleg right with big trees on the inside corner and a creek crossing the fairway in front of an elevated green.

I hosted my class reunion in the clubhouse recently. It was the perfect size and location for our event. We had about 45 people in attendance. Amanda was great to work with, she made sure we had everything we needed. From utensils to serve the cake with to ziplocks for our leftover food. She was quick to serve us and did a great job tending the bar all night. It was an awesome venue to host our private party at.

Enjoyed the beautiful course, challenging layout, and perfect weather this past week w a group of friends from StL. Fairways are tight on some wholes but in general forgiving --but the rough was tough. I think this course is very well maintained and will make you think about your shot selection. Good selection of drinks and snacks for after round analysis. Hope to play again!
