We traveled in for the masters and stayed in Charlotte- we played The Tradition the day before we played here. This course is an absolute must- it is challenging, but fair. So many beautiful holes with lots of bunkers and you will find yourself taking some pictures on holes. Even if you are staying in Charlotte this is worth the 30 months drive. Greens are in really good shape and pro shop could not have been nicer.

Booked a tee time for four. Two players had to cancel when a child woke up sick, and they called me two hours before the tee time. When I arrived and explained, I was told I’d be charged for the cancellations because it wasn’t 24 hours’ notice — even though it was completely out of my control. They said the “manager” (who wasn’t even there) would decide later whether to charge my card — so I was supposed to just wait and see if $200 vanished. When I mentioned I’ve played golf for 30 years and never had this happen, one employee cut me off with “well I’m not sure where you’ve played,” and anot…

Had an opportunity to practice and play a few holes last week. The changes to the golf course and practice facility are unbelievable. In my opinion Carolina Lakes now has one of the best places to work on your game in the greater Charlotte area.

Expensive.$49 for 9 holes. Challenging course. No real flat spots and tons of sand. Hard to make your way around--Where are the golf carts? Slow pace of play. Trash between holes, pretty much anywhere you look. Looks like they are tearing down the area in between holes. People from the neighborhood seem to just come out and play on whatever hole they want. Disappointing.

Me and my wife played here yesterday for the first time and loved it. Great course and in excellent shape. Everybody from the pro shop to the ranger were extremely nice and helpful. I’m looking forward to playing here again.

The course is great and the staff are very nice, but paying $100 for a tee time that's spaced out by 5 minutes is absurd. We were waiting the entire time and ending up leaving 3 holes early into a 4.5 hour round. The only time id think about coming back is if I can guarantee the first tee time, but since they stagger them, there's still a chance of waiting.

If you stayed away from this course due to poor course maintenance, you need to come now. New course superintendent has this course looking and playing top notch! Smooth rolling, faster, non-diseased greens, well mowed fairways and manicured tee boxes!

Overall experience was good. Enjoyed the course. Staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, had a red-neck threesome that had NO golf etiquette behind us. One walker was riding on the back of their cart. We had a slow two-some in front of us, that were obviously learning to play. So pace of play was slow. We would barely get our second shot off and they were already hitting off the tee box. The price you pay for playing a public course.

Awesome course. Came from Charlotte and worth the drive. Really feel you’re in a members only club

Absolutely the best condition in a decade. Fairways are tight, rough is managed, bunkers are in great shape, and the greens are rolling better than they ever have. And the best part, we were never held up or hit on. The range was closed that morning, but it appears they have done a lot of work to that as well. Best conditions I have played on of any local course lately.

I am a PGA professional and highly recommend this Scenic golf course to all. Although it has been raining quite a bit lately, the course still played FAIR and the bent greens are still 100% healthy even with the latest heat. Carolina Lakes is one of my top 5 favorites in Charlotte area due to the course’s exceptional layout and great pga led staff. It’s a must play!
