In summary

Fort Mill Golf Club receives praise for its well-maintained course, featuring a traditional layout with a Donald Ross front and George Cobb back, which many golfers find both challenging and enjoyable. The staff, particularly in the pro shop, are generally regarded as friendly and helpful, although some visitors have reported negative interactions with the starters. While the course conditions are typically good, there are occasional complaints about the restrictive GPS system on carts and the cost of play relative to the experience offered.

I play this course regularly. I played my most recent round on 9/7/2025 and course was in great condition all the way around. You can still visibly notice the aeration holes from July but it does not affect putting at all. Greens are rolling true and fairways and tee boxes are in excellent shape for this time of year and the lack of rain we had throughout the summer. Pace of play was good for a Sunday, completed the round in 4:02. Starter was great and pro shop guy was friendly as always. This is typical of all 4 Leroy Springs courses. I will play this course many more times.

Always in good condition. Nice layout and friendly staff. Greens are fast and true. I am able to walk the course on weekdays. It takes a few rounds to appreciate the course design and where not miss your golf shots

Always a nice place to play. Tee boxes are in top shape compared to other courses. Very nice, challenging course! Glad they have reopened. Updated Review 8/22 While the course continues to be one of the nicer ones in the area, I don’t believe that I will be back. The staff is just too rude and too incompetent. This does not apply to the guys in the pro shop, only the starters. There is a negative interaction before or during your round almost every time out there. We were asked who the hell are you guys? Had tee times delayed, and also dealt with one starter who flew down the hill to make su…

Nice place. Food is good, but on the expensive side compared to some other options in the area. They are healthier here though. Watch for golf carts, and at times limited parking.

Fort Mill Golf Club has a decent course layout and has solid practice facilities even though you hit off mats mostly. The course is not hard, but does have challenging holes. The greens are normally well kept but slow compared to others in the area. Hole 2 is one of my favorite in the area because of the risk/reward and how the water on the right and large tree on the left force you to make a great drive. Hole 12 is my least favorite in all of Charlotte for its lack of a decent landing area anywhere on the hole. Unfortunately, the cart GPS system seriously takes away from the experience. T…

Although the greens were nice, the rest of the course is not well maintained and offers a boring repeat of wide open faiways with little to distinguish holes. Traveling thru Charlotte and booked a 3pm Tee time on a Saturday at $80. This was highway robbery, given the offering and late tee time.

As a Donald Ross fan, I always feel like I am walking into a little bit of history when I arrive on the property. I love the layout and the greens are really good.

This one goes for the guy who answers the phone, Bill. Last time I played at this course it was a decent experience. However, I called in to book a tee time and you were the biggest 🫏 I’ve ever spoken to. That alone makes me not feel like this course will be a good fit for me. I go out to golf not to hear some old geyser make annoying remarks.

It's interesting to read the negative reviews. Mostly about getting to the tee box and interaction with the Starter. Don't show up 10 minutes before your tee time to check in and expect the ProShop or Starter staff to roll out the red carpet. The REASON this course get's so much play is their ability to consistently maintain reasonable PACE of Play. Anyone who plays golf regularly understands the importance. IF you delay and negatively impact PACE of PLAY, you are impacting EVERYONE behind you. Like any golf course, there is on going maintenance. Thunderstorms roll in, trees are struck by lig…

I've played this course a number of times, most recently twice this week. The course is owned and managed by a private foundation and is open to the public. I grade it like a municipal course. As such, the conditioning this week was very good to excellent, and course was playing firm and fast. I like it because it's a traditional-style layout (Donald Ross front, George Cobb back), with tees close to greens. You're not driving through a housing development. The fairways are mostly generous, but depending on the tees you play it can be challenging, with some excellent holes, particularly on the…

Finally got a decent morning foursome time before noon. Played July 10 at 0740 to be exact. It was packed but for good reason. The rangers do a nice job of keeping things moving. We played in under 4 hours. For a public course it was in exceptional condition given the hot summer we are having. The range could use some attention but the greens were immaculate.

(played 3/26/24) Solid course conditions all around, not quite amazing in any area. Greens were painted but rolled well. The grass in some areas like fairways has not fully come in yet. Based on all previous reviews, I was holding my breath expecting rude staff/starters.. but my experience was pleasant. Granted it was a Tuesday morning, not a busy weekend, but all workers were nice.
