In summary

Castle Highlands Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic setting and challenging layout, with friendly and helpful staff contributing positively to the experience. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with fairways and greens, which some find to be in poor condition. Pricing is also a point of contention, with several golfers feeling the fees are high given the current state of the course.

This golf course is the worst golf course I’ve played in my life . The tee box is all dirt. The fairways are rough the grass is very long. The rough is pretty much weeds. The greens are torn up. Lost about 200 balls in the fairway there is dandelions everywhere even on the farways. I would give this golf course negative stars if possible felt like I was playing in the Amazon rainforest.

I did not golf the course...but bought several items from them. The employees that assisted me were lifetime employees that were very helpful. The course looked beautiful nestled in the rolling hills North of Bemidji Mn.

This used to be my second favorite course in Bemidji behind the Country Club. I was actually a member here 2 years ago and the fairways tend to be rough but the scenery is nice and their greens have been solid in the past. I decided to go one week ago and it was the worst conditions I’ve ever played anywhere. Almost every green looked like the ones pictured. Fairways were pretty much hard dirt with some patchy grass. Staff is very friendly but the course conditions are brutal. I don’t know how they are going to retain any business when their prices are almost 40 for walking and 60 with a cart.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Only giving 3 stars because of the fairway conditions (very dry and I know there’s a drought right now), don’t feel it’s worth the $48, should be lower especially during the week. Putting greens are nice, fast but unforgiving at times. Overall good time though.

For the price of play, it's a disaster! Greens were worse than a par 3 kids course, fairways not mowed, rutts all over the greens. $78 for 2 players to play 9 holes and a cart. Slightly ridiculous!

A bit pricy but a good course. Course greens need some work currently but they are pretty good still.

Course was in terrible condition. Tons of dead spot, hitting of hard ground. There’s gravel and dirt patches in the fairway, very old golf carts and the fairway is hard as a rock and bumpy. I expected it to be much nicer then it actually was. The host was really nice and very helpful it has a ton of potential if taken care of. It looks like they just stopped caring about the course and it shows

Went here a few weeks ago and am very glad the conditions have improved. Everything is still soft after rain but that’s to be expected. Greens were excellent and fairways were nice.

I was a member here for over ten years but stopped being one about 2 years ago the course was well maintained then. now it is just in horrible condition and not to mention the rude lady behind the counter named Ellie .That was one of the main reasons why I didn't get a membership there anymore. It just needs a new owner to bring it back to life. Update 5/20/25 it is still the same way one star. the rude lady Ellie is still driving customers away. Even the groundskeepers quit because of her.

I have played this course for a couple years now but something’s a little different the fairways have never been perfect I’m fine with that but the greens had always been way better. They’re patchy, bumpy and soaking wet at 12:30 on Memorial Day weekend the holes were 3/4 full of water I love castle highlands when the greens were decent but it’s been like that both times I’ve been out 62$ if you go by yourself get a golf cart and 1 drink Id rather go to the country club and walk for about the same price then there was this couple in a red golf cart I first saw them on hole 15 after I hit I wav…

Definitely challenging. The fairways were rock hard and dry. Greens were in good condition. You will play most of the clubs in your bags. Slightly over priced. BYOB was a big plus.
