In summary

Cherry Downs Golf Club is appreciated for its challenging layout, featuring a mix of elevation changes and strategic holes that require thoughtful play. The greens are often highlighted for their speed and condition, though some find them excessively fast or challenging. While the scenic setting and friendly staff are positive aspects, there are recurring concerns about course maintenance, outdated amenities, and slow pace of play.

This should have been a 4.5 star. The greens were perfect. Not a blemish anywhere. Fast, fair and true. The layout is a great rolling hills type layout but with some pretty tough, tight and challenging holes. If you're looking for a challenge to really think about elevation changes and wind conditions and making calculations on tight landing points, this is a great course to try. It's not a terribly tough track, but it really makes you think more than normal and that's the point I'm trying to get across. Conditions overall were very decent but the greens were exceptional. Just one miniature co…

This course is all about "target" golf. You can't just casually bomb drives off the tee box and expect to score well here. Its not a long course, so it requires a lot of iron play to stay in bounds. Greens are on the firmer side as well. Ball won't check as much as other courses. Conditions could be better. There were a lot of situations where I had to hit a big shot, but the grass was in poor condition. This course would be rated much higher if the conditions were better. The hole layouts are interesting. Course conditions - Fairways 7/10 Greens 7/10

If you're a high handicap golfer you'll find this course too difficult. Despite the conditions not being great, they're still good, and it's a tough course...(I'm a 3 index and find certain holes very challenging). It's a good layout, not your typical boring holes. Yes carts are dated, it's a good walking course with some hills to climb, greens in great shape, there's basically no food, but as a clublink member I play this course 4-6 times a year.

Great course layout overall. Conditions could be improved, but the service was excellent. Service: A+ | Layout: B+ | Conditions: C+

As an event company, we have never conducted a review for a location we service before; however, we feel compelled to share our recent unfortunate experience with the staff at the golf course. Upon our arrival to drop off equipment for our client, we were supposed to receive a vehicle to transport the equipment to one of the holes. Unfortunately, the individual assigned to drive the vehicle lacked the necessary experience. She drove at an excessive speed, resulting in our equipment flipping off the cart. As our staff attempted to secure the equipment, they sustained injuries to their shoulders…

Beautiful course but so poorly managed it’s a complete joke. Pace was close to 5 hours. No marshal. Could be a top 100 course if they had someone with a brain running it and not the joke that clublink is.

A mature parklands course featuring a balance of seven 4s, six 3s & five 5s. Elevation and approach position will play a role in scoring, while the reputable slippery and sloped greens can draw the dreaded 3 putt from anyone not locked in. Classic yardage reaches up to 6,598 yards making it a less daunting course for juniors or non-players looking to get out and play. Low cut rough length is also notable compared to many Carrick design stadium epics throughout the GTA. Amenities could be refreshed, but daily fee golf reflects the priorities of this Claremont gem.

Course was in great shape and staff was very friendly. Electric carts which were in good shape. Only played front 9 but found it fairly challenging with a few holes you really had to place your shots to stay out of trouble. Quite a few elevated greens and lots of bunkers which made approach shots tough as well. The greens were very quick even though it had been raining and everywhere else was soggy. Overall very nice outing and would definitely return.

What an absolutely disappointing golf experience, 4 hours 45 minutes to play a poor conditioned golf course. Greens were brutal, very slow, half way house sandwich was stale, Clublink Corporate just doesn't care about anything beyond property values and appeasing it's private shareholders!

Awful experience here and I scored well - so this review isn’t fuelled from a poor round. Course was in absolutely terrible condition. It was a tough task to find any green on 17/18 tee boxes. Basicaly teeing it up out of the sand/mud. The carts may have been from the 1960s. Which doesn’t even matter as it would have been more appropriate to drive around in an atv. The cart paths looked like the gardiner under construction. My bag flew from the cart twice after I securely fastened it in and double checked. The pace of play was terrible, we waited every single shot. The range is awful. The a…

This is a beautiful golf course and extremely challenging. When we played, the greens were super fast and firm (probably a bit too fast) with plenty of slope. It made for some interesting putts. There is a range (irons only) with plenty of target flags. There is also a putting area, all near the first tee. With the fall colors in the background, this was a great experience. Course is very well maintained. Reasons for the 4 star instead of 5: a couple of the holes seemed a bit too challenging, borderline unfair. There are also 6 par 3s and 5 par 5s. I would like to see some more par 4s on a…

Cherry Downs is a beautiful and well maintained course, however it is extremely difficult from the red tees. As a woman who can drive the ball 160+ I found this course to not be reflective of a typical course; very long from the red tees. Essentially you are playing the white tips. Red tips are about 10 -20 yards in front of the whites. A lot of holes the yardage is different than the scorecard too. Would also be nice to have benches so walkers can sit. Personally i would much rather play a course with fair distances.
