What People Say

In summary

Cougar Canyon Golf Course is widely appreciated for its beautiful and challenging layout, offering stunning views and a unique design that many golfers find intriguing. The staff is frequently praised for their helpfulness and professionalism. However, some visitors have noted inconsistencies in course maintenance, including long fairway grass and issues with greens, which can impact the pace of play. Despite these concerns, many find the course to be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience, especially given its scenic setting.

Beautiful course and layout, but the fairway grass is WAY too long. I lost 5 golf balls in the fairway and another 10 in the rough. If the course was mowed at an appropriate length, this would be one of the best courses in the state.

Had a great time playing here. Hilly course, I wouldn't recommend walking, but the views are spectacular. Will definitely play again.

Course is in pretty rough shape and only had one guy who working when we were there on a Saturday. We played a 4 some and it took 5.5 hours because we spent at least half the round looking for balls, many of which were on the fairways or right off. The greens were sanded and a lot of holes on the putting surface making it nearly impossible for putts to hold a line or have any speed consistency. I’m a 4 handicap and hit the ball well enough to shoot 75 but really struggled anywhere around the greens. The course is a beautiful layout and could be one of the better tracks in southern Oregon. The course is in awesome shape. Fairways are nice, and the greens are very consistent. Will definitely play again.

This course reopened in July of 2020, after being closed for a year or so. I've played it several times since reopening, most recently 4/6/2025. The raw material is there for an incredible golf experience. An amazing layout with several memorable holes, in a gorgeous setting. Wildlife all over and only a few farmhouses in sight. Certainly not what I expected to find in this location (it's hidden back behind the town of Myrtle Creek, which isn't anything to write home about). You will want a cart for sure. Lots of hills. As of 4/6/2025, the overall course condition is...not good. Fairways wer…

Just returned from a group outing. We played four days in a row. The golf course was in surprisingly good shape considering the change in ownership and issues with water. That seems to have been resolved. The greens were in excellent shape. One complaint was the number of ball marks on every green. It appears many golfers NOT are repairing ball marks. This is a common issue on all golf course I play. It is very hard to understand. The fairways were green and well maintained. The management team running the golf course is doing a great job. One suggestion, change pin locations more often. We pl…

We started coming here last year when they reopened. We didn’t mind that they were working on the course and understood it would take some time. But the rates reflected the willingness of the ownership to work with the public while bringing it back. We then booked a time the other day online to play again. We drive an hour to golf here and are told that the online tee times for 3 people with carts is not accurate. It’s $15 More Per Person. I own a business. I don’t post one time and then change it at checkout. We pay the additional $45 and golf anyway. The carts have broken windows. All that w…

Good shot value, not always in the best condition. What you will run into here is groups of six on a 9:00 tee time on a Saturday. Pretty unacceptable for pace to play. So if you got 5 hours to spend golfing great course, if not Id take it to bar run

Great track. Rumor has it it's getting better daily. For the price and the views totally worth a drive! Guys at the club house were awesome and helpful. Needs some more TLC but by next summer going to be money! Even today was amazing golf just a tad wet and fluffy but give it time and this place is a must see.

Run down carts and cart paths. Greens are horrible weeds everywhere. The beer is cold but course sucks. There was a time when cougar canyon was a awesome place to play. Long gone sadly.

Highly recommended ! Awesome course, awesome experience. You can tell they are working their butts off to keep the course in great condition Even though the greens were recently plugged and sanded, they rolled nicely (except for a couple in the shade on the front nine). Clyde in the pro shop was super helpful. Slope is on the high side, but the course suted my eye (and my swing). Loved it.
