Coyote del Malpais Golf Course

We had a fantastic experience at Coyote del Malpais! This golf course is a true treasure. It's wonderfully tranquil, with just the right amount of visitors to ensure a peaceful round of golf. The course layout presents a delightful challenge, though I must admit, sometimes tracking down that elusive golf ball outside the fairway can be quite the adventure. Overall, it's a must-visit for golf enthusiasts looking for a serene and enjoyable round of golf. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Based on reviews of others and photos on the course website we decided to add Coyote Del Mal País and Grant’s as a stop on the way back from Phoenix. I’d highly recommend not to do the same or even make the trip in general. Upon arrival to the course we could immediately tell it was a no go for several reasons. The first being the overall state of the course. EVERYTHING is dead, so if you’re looking for a green golf course steer clear. Never lost so many balls. The course was unreasonabley rough. The cutting near the greens is super high for whatever reason. Everyone on the course was struggling. Golf is a challenge but this seemed overkill. The woman who checked us in and ran the food counter was kind and helpful. Also the smell near hole 10 and 11 was pretty gross. Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Wow! We have been there many times and was happy. Not at all now. My dad ordered chicken sandwiches to go. Piece of chicken with a sloppy piece of cheese. They had no tomato, lettuce, NOTHING. Gross!!! 2 packages of ketchup for French fires. That was it! Disgusted for the amount my dad paid.

Five stars for the clubhouse staff, the food, and value. One star for the grounds keepers. Most greens are decent, but a handful are spotted with pits, dead spots, and diseased areas. Tee boxes are terrible. Some didn't have a single blade of grass on them. Weeds have overtaken everything inbetween.

So today I called 2 times and both times I was told "no carts" today. Told my golfing buddy this and he passed, but I went to walk 9. When I got there I saw carts going in and out of the parking lot and carts on the course. I asked about them at the front desk and she told me. The guy going before me, got the last cart. Which really didn't matter to me because I was going to walk 9. She then left the counter and didn't give a reason and didn't come back for 5mins. They water the carts more than they water the grass. 0.3 out of 10 that’s Because the burger was great and the beers were cold. WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND! Save your money, drive east an extra hour and play a real course.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful even though they appeared short staffed. Coarse condition was better than expected being in New Mexico. Nothing against New Mexico at all but I can just imagine the challenge of keeping up a golf coarse in such a hot, dry environment. I would gladly play here again.

It was alright. I was just a spectator. The course is well taken care of. But the golf cart path is not up to par! No wonder the city needs new carts. I suggest ATV's. The path is rough and is need of some maintenance.

Food service was awesome but golf cart service was TERRIBLE. Didnt even get the cart yet and were greeted rude and had rude comments made to us before we could even get the cart. Also followed out to the course as if we weren't paying customers. Staff needs SERIOUS training on common courtesy. Should have been refunded my money after that encounter. If I could only give this 0 stars!

Jim is amazing !!! We showed up on a day in which the course was understaffed. Jim was very helpful and I'm glad he was there. From the kitchen to the pro shop to even helping out as course marshall he saved what could have been an awful road trip into a very memorable one !! Thanks again Jim
