In summary

Discovery Bay Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic layout, particularly the back nine with its elevation changes and challenging holes. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with overgrown fairways, poor greens, and unkempt sand traps. While some enjoy the friendly staff and dog-friendly policy, others are frustrated by the lack of upkeep and inconsistent conditions, impacting their overall experience.

Very nice course indeed. IMHO better than those in Sequim with higher rating and price. This is a course I would play everyday. Conditions may vary, but you cannot change the layout. Front 9 was good, but I really enjoyed the back 9 with some elevation changes. Beautiful sceneries as well.

Established in 1925 claims the oldest public golf course in Washington. The front nine is more country style the last nine designed later on is really cool. Green throughout are challenging , Don't over read them. Keep an eye out for the wildlife.

I’d love to love this course. But as others have noted, the maintenance is just so terrible it can only be two stars. You can tell the owners loved this course 20 years ago but it’s just a mess now. Greens have tons of weeds and are bumpy all over, the sand pits are full of dandelions and hard as a rock, and the fairways are just fields of daisies, which is pretty to look at but I lost 5 balls in the middle of the fairway! Makes a round of golf incredibly frustrating not to mention expensive. Sadly I won’t be going back unless they can invest in some upkeep. Photo is one of the fairways. At l…

Greens: pretty poor shape. Really slow. Fairways: these were the part of the course in the best shape. Sand traps: basically all rocks. Didn't even try to hit out of them as I didn't want to damage my clubs. Price: 50ish a person for 18 with a cart with is ok but feels overpriced for the course conditions. Dog friendliness: really the only reason that we came out here and it was fun having my dog out for a round, but they don't have any information on the type of pesticides or how recent they were used. So I wouldn't feel comfortable with my dog walking the course. Range: Saturday afterno…

I’ll start with the cons: this course has seen better days. Pretty dried out and the teeboxes are frankly bad. That being said, I actually really liked the course. It’s a good track. Good mix of doglegs, some holes had good elevation changes, some longer par 5s, good balance of yardages on the par 3s. The greens are in above average shape. The back nine is up on the hill behind the course. Holes 11-13 really feel like you’re miles from civilization and I was expecting to see a bear, elk or Sasquatch around the next corner. Really cool stretch of holes. Not overly busy and I believe they spa…

Front nine was very dry and the greens were not very good...slow bumpy, large damaged spots...plus I played terrible which probably influenced this rating lol

Unless you have excess golf balls to donate and you want to spend more time hunting for your golf ball than actually playing and presumably enjoying the game and being outdoors, this is not the place for you, particularly in spring and after any recent precipitation. My comments were based on lies that were mostly in the fairways vs. in the rough. The pictures of this course are beautiful, they did a fantastic job of spiffing the look up. The course's twilight pricing rates are incredibly enticing. The staff are friendly. The course looks spacious. What you don't find out until you hit your f…

Went here the day after Thanksgiving and the course was in good shape! The greens were soft but well cut and rolled fast and true. The course itself poses one of the best challenges on the peninsula with longer holes and fun shots. Will definitely be back soon.

Dog friendly, but it's not well maintained. The sand traps are basically rocks! Also, the employees didn't know if there were chemicals on th grass 🤔 we didn't want our small dog to walk on the grass, just in case.

There are NO Greenskeepers - This used to be one of my favorite courses - Was NEVER told the back 9 grass is NOT cut, lost 4 balls in 2 fairways, could not find the ball in the high grass and white clovers, very soggy course. Should have been told when we checked in the grass was never cut for months on the back 9, but was told by the person behind the desk, I still get paid regardless. I will not be back as the course is not being taken care of.

My husband and I took our granddaughter for her first 9 holes. She is 10 and loved playing.

One of the better public courses I've ever played. The holes are fair, challenging and well laid out. The front side is a totally different golf course than the back nine. It's apparent that it was more than one course designer at work. The fairways are well kept, and the greens always seem to be excellent, no matter what the weather. There are several Blue tee boxes that will bring you to your knees, and the walk from #9 green to the #10 tee could be described as the "Discovery Bay Death March" - bring a sherpa, and a note from your cardiologist. But, well worth a drive to play.
