In summary

Elks Golf Club receives mixed reviews, with some visitors appreciating the interesting layout and improvements made by dedicated members, as well as the friendly staff. However, many express dissatisfaction with the course's condition, citing issues with unkempt greens, overgrown fairways, and poor maintenance of sand traps and cart paths. Pricing concerns are also noted, with some feeling the cost does not reflect the quality of the course.

Course was in terrible condition. The greens had not been cut in several days if not a week or more. I had to putt the ball really hard to get it to the hole. In addition, there were lots of dead spots on some of the greens. The fairways were also bad with long grass which is like the the rough at any other course and had not been cut in at least a week. Trees are overgrown and need trimming. Sand traps are horrible. And it costs $35 to play just nine holes. However on the website it said $25 to play nine holes. OK, don't want to dump on this place too hard. Buuuut. If the price was $18-$20 for 18, it would be justifiable. I kind of liked the layout, very interesting. Trees in strategic places, forces you to play smart. With that being said, tee boxes are a sandy mess, fairways are mowed, but to like 2 inches high. Dead center of the fairway is like hitting out of thick rough at most courses. And the actual rough, it may as well be fescue. The fringes are 3 inches deep. I had to chip, because it was impossible to putt from the fringe. The greens were something from a WWII movie. Chunked out with sand…

If you rate this course more than 1 star, chances are you’re probably a 25+ handicap. The greens are in the worst condition I’ve ever seen. They’re inconsistent, wet, and very bumpy and slow. The rest of the course is in semi decent shape. But the greens are absolute garbage. Getting $30 a round here is highway robbery.

Got wet putting as sprinklers come on automatically. No one tending sprinklers as you golf. Expect to get wet and dodge Tee box and fairways . Difficult to play while putting surface was not smooth.
