In summary

Foster Golf Links is praised for its well-maintained course, affordability, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both beginners and seasoned golfers. The course layout is described as short but enjoyable, with a variety of challenges like water hazards and tight fairways. However, some visitors have experienced issues with slow pace of play and occasional negative interactions with staff, particularly the marshals, which have affected their overall experience.

My husband adores this place. For a public golf course it is incredibly inexpensive and well kept. Parking is easy and he can always get a teatime no matter the weekend. The restaurant here just changed over and it is a really nice Hawaiian Polynesian food spot.

I have been coming here for about 20 years. Beautiful course that is well maintained and not very difficult (hint hint beginners). The clubhouse and restaurant are also beautiful. Front staff could be a little nicer and accommodating to guests, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars.

Really good golf course. It has remained one of the few affordable courses in king county. Course is well maintained compared to over places. The food is good. It has gotten crowded over the years so it can be tough to play but 9 holes is easy enough

It looks like Foster’s has recently changed ownership or management—there have been noticeable updates like renovations, a new restaurant, and even a fenced gate. There’s also now a marshal, which I hadn’t seen before. That said, the experience with the marshal was not a positive one. While heading to the 12th hole, he told our group to hurry up because we were supposedly a hole behind. However, there was a group ahead of us that had only been playing 9 holes, and the group in front of them was just reaching the 12th green. From our perspective, we weren’t behind at all, which made the comment feel unnecessary and somewhat confrontational. By the time we finished the 12th hole, we had already caught up to the group ahead, confirming that pace wasn’t an issue. A similar situation happened to a friend of mine who had a different tee time that same day. When the marshal drove toward him, my friend courteously moved aside to give him space to pass. Instead of acknowledging that, the marshal snapped at him, telling him to “get off the grass. All the way.” When my friend explained he was simply trying to be respectful and move out of the way, the marshal quickly changed his tone and backed off. Overall, these interactions came across as overly aggressive and inconsistent. It gives the impression of someone asserting authority without fully assessing the situation. As a marshal, it’s important to have a clear understanding of the flow of play—who’s ahead, who’s behind, who’s finishing, and who’s continuing. Without that awareness, it not only creates confusion but also makes players feel unfairly targeted and unwelcome, which ultimately reflects poorly on the course experience.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Foster Golf Links. The service was unprofessional and rude from start to finish. After checking in at the clubhouse, nothing was mentioned about spectators or needing to pay for the entire cart. However, after we we got our cart and were about to head to the course, a staff member followed us out and started yelling that no spectators were allowed and that we should have paid for the whole cart, even though this was never communicated beforehand when we checked in together. Later, when returning the cart, another worker yelled at us insisting we return rentals in order to get our ID back — but we never rented any clubs or gave our ids anywhere, we had our own clubs and did not rent. We were just trying to ask this person where to return the cart but before we can say anything he began yelling about rentals. The way staff spoke to us was unnecessarily aggressive and disrespectful, and the experience felt discriminatory. Instead of calmly clarifying policies, they chose to raise their voices and make assumptions. This created a hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere. I expected much better treatment and professionalism. Clear communication of policies upfront and respectful customer service should be the bare minimum. Sadly, this experience has made me not want to return.

Great place to play golf. Maintenance is very good, staff is friendly and helpful. Billy Baroo pub is great after game hangout. Can get crowded and slow play but just avoid peak hours.

This is an inexpensive public course. I had low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a short course and a par 68. That makes it play a little faster than a traditional par 72. The course was in better shape than expected. The greens were a little slow but in good condition. Expect tight fairways and small greens.

Regarding their practice facility, I knew they didn’t have a range, but their putting green and chipping area including bunker is pretty nice for short game practice. I didn’t play the course and don’t plan to.

Enjoyable round, opportunities to make birdies allover the place - especially with a good drive. Trees offer the main challenge here, otherwise you're looking at fairly straightforward parkland stuff. No super long rough to deal with, greens were in great condition considering it's late Jan. Had a tasty brisket sandwich in the Caddyshack themed Billy Baroo's clubhouse. Also came across a real life Al Czervik on the course, music playing and everything.

Great course lots of water hazards... No drink cart the day we were there anywhere anyway. The bar in the clubhouse is pretty decent also.

Easy, inexpensive course that is great for beginners! Be careful not to leave anything valuable in your car though because my car window got shattered and valuables were taken.

First hole, second stroke management told me to skip ahead to the next hole or to leave. Due to taking to long. We tee'd off as soon as the group in front cleared the green. We paid for our own tee time, but instead they said they "grouped" us with two others. If I paid for my own tee time. Waited for my own tee time. Why are you forcing us to join others. Being new, my concerns are with hitting other players. It comes off as hostile and predatory towards new players. I gave a one star because they did give a refund.

Angie at the check in desk is AMAZING. She has been at Foster for a very long time and is so super polite and helpful. The course is in great shape and well taken care of. The entire staff are really nice and I have enjoyed playing every round this year and look forward to many more rounds. I don't understand tho how the greens fees are $54 and a DRIVE CART IS $40?.? That seems unbelievably hi for a drive cart. $40?.? When the greens fees are $54. That price alone makes it difficult for someone who has trouble walking 18. Other thank that, great times out there

The course is a nice, short course. Easy enough to walk and enjoy the day. The problem is they put the tee times so close together that you end up seriously backed up. That course should not take 2.25 hours to play 9 holes, which it did today. I quit after the front 9 because there were 2 groups waiting on the 10th tee box as we finished 9. Thus, the 3 stars. The restaurant has good food and drinks.

Foster is great local muni, short course but fun track. Only issue is how long it takes to play a 4000yrd course - 4.5 + hours at times and while sitting on a tee box with three other groups the marshall told me it wasnt backed up this was normal pace of play.

Came in to play a 6am tee time just to be harassed by the attendant (Randy is his name?). We did mobile check in and went to the warmup area to hit some putts and swings prior to teeing off. Here comes this guy talking to use extremely sarcastic and off putting, claiming we didn’t check in. After going back and forth, he told us to check in at the pro shop regardless & “appreciate the business” in a rude way. Sure, whatever you say buddy. 5 minutes later, the first pair tees off and we let a single tee off before us. He comes back and yells across the putting green at us to tee off (again, with people 150 yards in the fairway). Like a coward, he drives off before we can respond to him. Ridiculous service from this guy, especially on a Monday morning with nobody at the course.
