Really nice county course. Everything was in great shape and the greens were very puttable. Appreciated the GPS device in the cart and all of the staff I encountered were very nice. Speed of play was very good for a weekday round. Pictures of the clubhouse and first tee box and chipping area. Recommend!

What a beautiful golf course the renovations that they did are phenomenal. The car paths are in excellent condition and the greens are in fantastic shape. If you get a chance, go play it the staff is great and fun to talk with.

Simply the best kept secret in New Jersey. Stunning renovation, new everything and maybe the best thing of all.. tee times every 12 minutes, not 10 so it never really gets too crowded or too slow. Between this and Hedricks and now Weequaic, Essex County gets a gold star for how they treat their golf courses and golfers.

Amazing course. Carts have touch screen gps, radios can play music, bunkers in almost every fairway makes it challenging. Lots of slope. Greens are very true, not too fast not too slow. CONS - good luck getting a tee time if you’re not a resident….

Really nice course. Just played it for the first time… not too far to get to for my son from lower Manhattan and me from central nj. Course is kept in great shape. Lots of slope and holes that you need to hit to a specific part of the green. Pace was good, staff was super friendly, and the course was challenging enough for any level player. We’ll be back here!

Is this the hidden gem of golf in NJ, wow what a nice course, they really take care of it, playing forever and this is the first time I played, dont hesitate book a tee time you won't be disappointed. The greens are immaculate but play very fast. When hitting make sure you play up a club or two. Concessions are currently closed. Absolutely a great day on a nice cours.

Lovely fairways, ideally placed hazards to make for a challenging course. The greens seem to be work in progress, so were bumpy and near unpredictable. Hopefully the grass grows soon and it's back to normal. Not recommended for beginners or those who can't hit driver (or any long woods) consistently. All the fairways are bordered by long grass, so any errant shot is likely a lost ball. Plus they have long grass for about 50-75 yards between tee to fairway too. The roughs had some growth too with only just the top of the ball showing. Long course and holes too...if you choose to walk. Costs…

Hidden gem of a course with Golden Age design. There are a lot of strategic shots without being too demanding or penalizing. The elevation changes makes the course a challenge to walk but a joy to play. There are many great views as you progress through your round!

I play all 3 Essex County courses regularly all season long and have done so for years. Byrne has always played as the most difficult for me given that there are so few Par 5's and Par 3's. The front nine features some significant elevation changes that you will feel if you walk the course like I do. Making birdies on this course is extremely gratifying and I believe playing this course regularly will make you a better golfer. My favorites holes would have to be #5 and uphill Par 3 and #1 a Par 4 that used to be a Par 5. The only reason I like those holes is that they are 2 of the easiest hole…
