In summary

Gilwood Golf & Country Club is appreciated for its friendly staff, scenic setting, and suitability for both beginners and more experienced golfers. Many visitors enjoy the atmosphere and amenities, including the clubhouse and food offerings. However, some reviews indicate concerns about course maintenance, particularly regarding the condition of the greens and fairways, and note that the pace of play can be slow at times.

I enjoyed my time on the course. Was here with a team from west Fraser mill. I enjoyed the experience as a beginner. Staff were friendly and respectful. Definitely coming back

Great hidden gem. A must play when in the area. Great place for the kids to learn the game or for a casual business meeting on the course. The deck is a great place to unwind after a long day at work or to finish off a round of golf.

Golfed today and the staff were awesome but the overall course seems tired. I don't mean spring season tired but unkempt and neglected. Like I said it was spring season and we weren't expecting much..but... oh well. Like I said staff were great and the manager/supervisor was awesome. Kitchen staff was great too!. I was a member here for many years and I enjoyed many spring seasons as well as summer and fall. The golf carts were old and slow, the buildings at least two years away from a good paining. Carpet and overall facilities were worn and in bad need of an update. Maybe in a month or so th…

Golfed on June 28, 2022 - Golf course is in terrible shape! The front nine greens are over 1 cm long, the fairways are like rough, where you can find grass, and the rough was about 12 cm long. The greens on the back nine have no grass on them, complete burn out. I can understand having a bad year, but to beat it all they charged us full price!! A complete rip off. I don't mind paying a good dollar for a good product, but their product this year is not worth the time or money!! We have played there for the last 12 years and have never been disappointed in the course. But this year with the full…

Played this course June 25, 2022. Worst course I’ve played in Alberta. Definitely not worth the money. The greens are in horrible condition, it looks like chemical burns all over the greens and tee boxes, any grass on the greens is so long that you can’t putt. The fairways are like the 2nd or 3rd cut on any decent golf course. There was no Marshall on the course, the pace of play was extremely slow especially when you are behind a group of 6.

Definitely has a rural course feel. Driving range + 18 holes. I felt like the rough was a bit thick and the greens maybe weren't rolled. But it was an excellent time.

Everything is looking Great this season, the fairways and greens seem to be in better condition than they have the last couple years..?! Awesome to see improvement!!

This course is in rough shape this season. Lots of greens are dead and the grass that is there clearly isn’t ever mowed. Way too hard to find balls in the rough just off the fairway or right next to the green because of how shaggy everything is. The 1 star I have to give is for the staff that are there; from the proshop to the clubhouse all the staff are very friendly. Unfortunate that the course itself made it a bad experience.

Food review for the Golf Course in Slave Lake Overall rating of 2.8 stars of 5. I suppose i shouldn't have expected much, but there was significant contrast to previous years when the food was at least 4 of 5 stars. I think the menu is very well designed and very simple... so i cannot understand why they can't cook from fresh, not frozen, nor store bought; other than the obvious 'cost savings' and no thinking cooking. IMO producing quality meals will impact your bottom line more positively than the above anyway, so i don't get it. You wouldn't need a chef to produce this menu either, which i…

The course has fallen off a cliff this year. The greens and tee boxes are plagued with dead grass, some holes look like they haven't saw a mower yet this season. Top it all off with full price green fees, beyond disappointing!

Just went out for supper - no golfing. Great Gilwood Burger. Gravy on poutine was best I have had in a long while. The daiquiri was good too.
