What People Say

In summary

Hiawatha Golf Course receives positive feedback for its well-maintained greens and challenging layout, which many find enjoyable and reasonably priced. However, there are frequent complaints about the course management, particularly regarding slow pace of play and staff interactions, with some feeling rushed or pressured during their rounds. Additionally, some visitors express dissatisfaction with changes made to the course's character and the high cost of amenities.

If you are looking to play in groups of 5 or 6, this is the course for you. If you would rather play in under 5 hours i suggest looking elsewhere. I brought up the concern to the pro shop at the turn and they acted like it was a completely normal practice at this course. That response is the sole reason for the review, as a consumer i would like to know in advance if courses allow/promote this kind of shenanigans. Other than that nothing special about this course and greens were decent enough to earn a second star.

We had a group of 11 set to tee off just as storms rolled in. The course accommodated us perfectly. We spent a couple of hours on the simulators and still managed to play our full 18 holes once the storms passed. The course is in good shape and the rates are excellent compared to other courses, in my opinion.

Got a double tee time for a large group, so that we could play two groups back to back. Almost immediately got scolded off the tee box by staff saying "if we see you playing as a six man we will ask you to leave" We had no intention of playing as 6, but we were being already pressured, and first time being on the course it was a small bit intimidating. The course itself is maintained, but the front 9 is very very tight, no room for error left or right. The entire 18 holes felt rushed by people behind us and staff maintaining watch with a golf cart and a set of binoculars. At the turn of 9…

The course was maintained well. However, got approached twice on the course by staff for not playing fast enough and playing directly behind our friends (the tee time before us). Every hole is within 20 feet of another and they make you feel rushed. Wouldn't recommend for newer golfers as there is no room for a mis hit and the staff isn't very welcoming. I won't be back.

Way overpriced. Wish it was still Hiawatha and had trees shaping the golf course. New owners chopped all the trees down. Course has no character anymore. We were on one of the first par 3's, I think #3 and a worker was out seeding the tee boxes and literally left his golf tractor on our tee box with the motor running! We were literally teeing off next to a running golf tractor ON the T-box! Talk about a 1st for everything and not in a good way! Additionally, why do courses do away with sand bunkers? Like I say, no character. Spend the extra $5 and go to Chapel Hill is my recommendation, but if…

Love Vernon View Golf Course! The new owners are working hard to update the course and have added some great improvements like new signs to navigate the course better, the course is professionally mowed and manicured, added new pins, redid the inside of the clubhouse, adding new drainage pipes, added a new bridge on Hole 9, and they are currently adding a pond and path on Hole 2! The staff is super friendly! Love going out and playing here!

i genuinely wish i could give it 0 stars because that’s how it truly is. frustrating course, shitty cart path and greens staff in the middle of fairways while you are trying to hit. overpriced, in my opinion it is a waste of money and time. go to irish hills or some other golf course this is the worst one in amount Vernon without a shadow of a doubt.

The course is in great shape. Greens are smooth and play true. The staff are great! They do an awesome job with the league scoring site they added this year, big win there. And the indoor facilities are solid when you need to dial in your game.

I've had two lessons now with Charlie Phillips at Vernon View golf course and can't say enough good things about him. He's really great at explaining what he wants me to do with my swing in a way that's easy for me to understand. I haven't played in 20 years and wanted to get back into it, he has me hitting the ball better than I thought I ever would. The personal instruction and video analysis are very helpful and for what I believe is a bargain. Really looking forward to my next lesson, highly recommend him.

The owner came up to us and told us to stay on the cart path which is a reasonable request but they don’t even have cart paths throughout the whole course and we agreed to stay on it and everything was fine but then he came and said that we were “damn near on the green” and that he “could kick us out just as fast as he let us in” we never even went on the fringe or anywhere near it. This owner does not know how to be kind or helpful only rude. You will never get my respect or business again and I would recommend people go to Irish hill golf course, it’s much nicer and the owners are much more…
