In summary

Hickory Nut Golf Club receives praise for its friendly staff, challenging greens, and reasonable pricing, making it a popular choice for local golfers. The course layout is appreciated, with some noting the picturesque setting and good deals, particularly during twilight hours. However, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent maintenance, such as patchy fairways and missing signage, as well as issues with double booking and slow pace of play during peak times.

This is another “countrified” Lorain county golf course. Very popular with the locals and very reasonably priced. $20 with a cart prior to 8AM. The fairways were burned out in a number of places with a lot of mud chuckholes. Their “landscaping” near the tee boxes and near the clubhouse was mostly covered by tall weeds - some 8 feet tall. They were missing many of there signs at the tee boxes or they needed refurbishing. It is apparent that there golf carts are not cleaned daily with a pop spill and lots of grass in my cart. It is a decent bargain to play golf here if you don’t mind a few dis…

Nice public course. Greens were awesome but there was some patchy places on the fairways. Nice wooded location that was was fairly flat so great for the average golfer. Low handicapers would be bored.

Played here for the first time in 20 years with my regular foursome. Very pleasantly surprised! Great shape and challenging greens. Super nice staff and love the driving range. We quickly designated this course as our new home base. Great for any level golfer and as pretty as a postcard.

Worst golf course conditions I've ever seen. This place will be a housing development next year. Fairways not cut in days. Tee boxes with grass like a rough on any other course. Greens were in nice shape. Don't think this place knows what a weed Wacker is. It's a shame to watch a course go to hell like this one.

Great course in Northeast Ohio. Good difficulty for the average golfer, nicely kept greens, and great staff for the times I've gone. Can get backed up with leagues and such but is expected with a public course with an average price tag. Will definitely be back a few more times before the season ends

Friendly staff! The course is in good condition. Tee boxes, greens, and fairways seem to be watered and well manicured. We do a golf outing here every year and looks like year after year the course improves.

Staff was quite helpful and friendly. Starter also great for telling us where problem areas were on some holes. This helps with speeding up play. Good parking, clean carts, good price and nice food variety. Course was in excellent condition.

They have a great deal for Friday nights after 5pm- $15 riding. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sort of a rough crowd can be out at Hickory Nut, especially at that time of the evening. We had folks drinking and yelling over to us on a few holes. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind. We would go back again.

Course greens are great but the fairway is shockingly high or just not cut. Always liked the course layout with a few challenging but fair holes. Just really needs to cut the grass, losing balls in the fairway is pretty unacceptable.

Not at all as pictured or advertised. Absolutley no distinction from rough to fairway..most of the hole layouts and signs are missing or havent been tended to in many yrs.. ranger turned sprinklers on as we were teeing off on a hole. Got down to a muddy soggy green totally different than the holes we had played before.. multiple times course rangers would drive straight down fairway towards us as we were teeing off. Extremely foul language being spewed from starters. Wayy over priced for a barely manicured field.. will not be coming here again. Their website says if you havent played here in a…

Play was absolutely the slowest that I have played behind. The league players were so inconsiderate, not ready to play their shots, talking on greens consistently. Senior not using senior tees and when double par was reached on a hole they continued to play. Don't ever go to this course on Friday morning.

My son and I and one his friends went out and played the front 9. And had a great time. The fairways were clean of leaves and the greens were perfect. I'm glad we chose Hickory Nut.
