Highland Nine Golf Course is praised for its well-maintained fairways, challenging layout suitable for all skill levels, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both beginners and seasoned players. The course is noted for its scenic setting and offers additional amenities like a practice green and updated carts. However, some visitors have mentioned issues with slow pace of play and occasional staff interactions, which have detracted from their experience.

Located right across the street from Highland National is its smaller 9-Hole sibling. Here you will find beautiful rolling fairways with large mature trees to greet you at every turn. This course is well-maintained and surprisingly challenging and for players of all levels. It features a modest (but sufficient) pro shop, updated carts, and a decent practice green for warm-up and practice.

I play this course multiple times a week, and I just so happen to read some of the poor reviews. I can’t help but wonder how much golf experience they have because this is one of the nicest executive courses you’ll find anywhere. Great staff as well.

Highland 9 is a gem, but Brad is the diamond. All of highland golf facilities have great staff. B.R.A.D. .Best round any day!! I once lost my ball but Brad helped me find myself!!! Keep this highland national treasure!!!!

Went with a couple friends to golf for the first time, we read that this is a good beginner course and I would agree. Well maintained and just challenging enough. However, our trip was a bit soured by a staff person named Brad (I believe). I made the mistake of happily announcing it was our first time and he literally said “Oh no.” It seemed like we were targeted as “annoying girls” after that. Of course we played slower for our first time, but we weren’t blocking anyone and let people pass as they caught up. At hole 6 he came towards us and asked, “Are you having fun? Because the people behi…

Great shorter course, some place I would feel comfortable taking a new golfer. Everyone I’ve interacted with in the clubhouse has been super kind.

Great nine hole track. Conditions have really improved the last couple years. Play it regularly now that it’s part of the Public Country Club program

Need a ranger/marshal for slow play and to enforce tee times. Constantly taking almost 3 hours to play 9 holes because people 20 minutes late jump in and tee off while those on the course are taking 20 mins per hole. Too bad, because staff/course are great other than that.

Part of the Highland National Golf course, this 9-hole practice course is great for folks that want a little slower pace or want to take more time to work on their technique and not have to move at a pace that a nationally recognized course can demand especially during peak times. What makes the 9-hole place truly versatile is the fact it doubles as a great cross country ski course and snow shoeing venue. The staff groom the tails to provide a great skiing experience. If these are your passions you have found the right place. If both golf and winter sports are your passion, then you have found…

Accessible nine holes course with lots of families playing (so slower play). No water to worry about, so you won't lose (or find!) golf balls here. However, the doglegs keep you thinking about your shot selection and trees can come into play. The greens and tee boxes are in good shape.

Good price for a pretty nice 9 hope course. Can’t wait to play it again after I try the 18 hole course across the road. The only issue I had was the extreme amount of slow golfers with no effort from their side in letting us move through and pass. If this would have happened the course would be 5 stars.

Highland 09 Course is the BEST practice course in St. Paul. The proximity to Highland National Championship course across the street, accessible from all directions and a true executive course for all skill levels. I play here often for practice and it is a quiet neighborhood, scenic, and good challenge. The price for 9 holes is affordable and the course is maintained well and has the best putting greens in St. Paul area in my opinion. Recently, the city council announced that it is seeking to take this beautiful parcel of land and develop a multi use sports complex or alike. This will be exp…
