In summary

Lead Country Club is praised for its scenic location in the Black Hills, unique layout, and friendly staff, with many appreciating the challenging yet well-maintained course and the welcoming atmosphere. The historic clubhouse and its amenities, including a full bar and good food, are also well-regarded. However, some visitors have noted issues with the greens' condition, the high cost relative to the experience, and occasional negative interactions with staff, particularly the management.

What an amazing experience to play here on one of the Black Hills high elevation courses. Tee off right outside the club house from a elevated tee box and your adventure has begun. You will not be disappointed!!

Beautifully situated course with some fun variety of holes. The only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars for me were the greens. Very sandy with not a ton of grass.

Very good mountain golf. No driving range for warm up but a small putting green. Nice and challenging.

Great course tucked up in the Black Hills! Friendly staff, gas powered carts, and a unique layout. When you're off the fairway, the rough is a blend of pine trees, deep grass, and rocky terrain aka the Black Hills lol

Friendliest people ever! Love playing this course, the owners treat everyone like family! We think it’s the most beautiful course in the Black Hills!

Overall the staff and experience was very enjoyable. No range and only 9 holes. Many holes want to force you to the 150 yard marker on plenty doglegs. Not driver friendly for someone who hits the ball further. Greens a brutal. Don’t be above the hole. Biggest issue is the cost and the ability to play more than 9 as they were very booked up. Two of us for 9 holes and 6 drinks was $110. Hard to justify that when the conditions are what they are. Cool layout though. I was hoping for more elevation changes. Worth a shot if you are looking for a laid back place to play a few holes

Looks like a lot of folks have had bad experiences but mine was great. I was golfing by myself on a weekday so maybe that has something to do with it? Never felt rushed and everyone treated me nice. Course is beautiful. Greens aren't in the best shape, but I come from Salt Lake where public courses have giant patches of dirt/dust in the middle of fairways and dead grass everywhere. This is world class by comparison. Views are great. Very relaxing experience.

Unbelievable experience and an excellent value course!!! The greens are a challenge, the fairways and first cut is lush and well manicured. If you miss into the trees you have no one to blame but yourself. Gorgeous valley setting. I have played every course in the hills and this is hands down my top pick of courses to return to. Al in the clubhouse will take care of you with the best hospitality in the hills. We will be back.

Great golf for your average player. We were looking for a scenic game but didn't want anything too fancy with a dress code or anything. This place is awesome! The greens are a little small and definitely have challenging slopes, but taken care of well. The whole course is well maintained. The clubhouse was full of history about the place. Highest golf course east of the Rockies, 100 years old, and Dwight Eisenhower played there! I love that it is nessled within the hills and seems to be seemless with the nature surrounding. All in all, we will be back! Reasonable price too!!

This course is a gem! It is in great condition, a user-friendly course, but challenging! The updated vintage clubhouse affords great amenities, and the food is delicious - not to mention availability of a full bar. Hard-working staff will strive to make your experience pleasant.

I am posting on my wife's account as she did not play. As 4 couples, we were out from S.E. MN for a few days to play golf, shop, gamble, etc... After reading a couple of negative reviews I wasn't sure about playing the course. However the course and scenery were beautiful with smaller greens and the Manager and Assistant could not have been more accommodating. Great Day!

If you are a public golfer, or have a group larger than 4, I would not recommend coming here. Some of the members are extremely rude and called the clubhouse on us for being too slow when we were, in fact, faster than course pace. Course was in tough shape and very rough when we were there.
