In summary

Live Oaks Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic beauty, highlighted by majestic live oaks and well-maintained greens, providing a challenging yet enjoyable golfing experience. The friendly staff and additional amenities, such as the clubhouse restaurant and pool, add to its appeal. However, some visitors have pointed out issues with the fairways, cart paths, and temporary clubhouse facilities, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance and communication about course conditions.

I recently played a round at Live Oaks Golf Club near Jackson, MS, and had a pleasantly satisfying experience overall. The course is an 18-hole, semi-private layout designed by John F. Stahl and has been around since 1969. It stretches across 130 beautiful acres dotted with majestic live oak trees that elevate the scenic appeal of every hole . The layout is playable and enjoyable, with Bermuda grass greens that were in great shape during my visit . What stood out most was the welcoming atmosphere—the staff were friendly, and it felt like a community—a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settl…

Very enjoyable round of golf. Course layout was great. Distances and fairway markers hopefully will be added in the future. Course map is needed GPS has not been updated yet for new layout. Club house and resturant new and nice. Bonus pool area for the family.

From the moment we arrived it was made clear. We were not welcome. The lack of golfers playing on Saturday at 10am could be attributed to college football, but most likely others have had the same poor experience. While facilities are being upgraded a temporary clubhouse was in use at the pool. The cart paths are terrible, and each hole has a grounds under repair area. No public water fountains and a strict no cooler policy should be noted. The greens are in fair condition. The carts GPS system was down and there was a wedding which closed the back nine at hole 12. None of this would have been…

Very nice course... mostly straight. Only criticism is that they don't have a driving range.

Not your moneys worth. I was very disappointed at the shape of the course. Backyard grass fairways along with the ankle deep rough that it’s impossible to even find your ball out of. I’m all up for a challenging course, but this was a neglected landscape and needs work to be close to what they charge. Greens were well maintained I’ll give them that, but definitely not worth 60$ a round considering what you get at other local courses for average 35/40$. Good lunch, but save your frustration and play another local course that’s properly groomed.

Restaurant here is good. The pool is nice also. You can get into the restaurant without membership.

This is a good, pretty course, but can be difficult for mid-to high-handicappers like myself. The recent work on the new clubhouse was well done and the staff is nice enough. The only complaint, really, is the quality of the carts and the cart paths, though I guess the cart condition could be attributed to the paths, maybe. It would be nice if the full driving range would reopen, as well. Hitting into nets doesn't really give you a feel for your game.

The course lives up to its name with gorgeous big live oaks throughout the course. The greens are very very nice and the fringe surrounding the greens. On the bad side the cart paths are really really bad. The fairways were hard as a concrete and many places had large dirt areas in the fairways. The score cards do not include a course layout and there are no course layout indicators at any of the holes. All that being said I am not a professional golfer and we had a great time. Course membership is very reasonable and they had a small but nice pro shop.

Greens soft, true and beautiful. Love the beautiful live oaks. Clubhouse ramshackle with lots of character and an open bar. People fun and friendly. Fairways, tee boxes not so hot, but then it is March. Great prices $25 with cart. Basically, a pretty setting with nice greens.

I have always enjoyed the course and the beauty of the trees. The greens are in great shape and some of the best around for a semi public course. Definitely dissapointed in the fact that I had to pay extra for my wife to ride amd wasn't aware of that when all of the other courses around don't charge for a rider. Also the cart paths are in terrible shape and the fairways are not great either.

Beautiful layout with lots of features and contour to make for an enjoyable and challenging round. You'll use every club in your bag. Also great value, I think it was $20 for as many holes as I wanted with a cart after 3pm.
