In summary

Sonny Guy Golf Course, also known as Pete Brown Golf Course, is praised for its affordability and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular choice for both beginners and seasoned players. The course has seen improvements in fairways, greens, and facilities, with a notable emphasis on youth involvement and community development. However, some visitors note that the course could benefit from additional maintenance, particularly in terms of irrigation and green conditions, but overall, it offers a good value for those looking to enjoy a round of golf without breaking the bank.

I have been going to Pete Brown for at least 6 months. Everyone is welcoming, the back 9 is beautiful, the location is convenient, and the price is beyond fair, especially compared to the courses around it. The guys have been putting in the work to make the course better and better, even on a city budget, and I commend them for that.

Best bang for your buck golf course in Mississippi. Also I was impressed in the amount of young people there(close to 50 young golfers being mentored) Loved the investment they’re making in the next generation.

My experience at Pete Brown Golf Course was enjoyable. The fairways could use more water, and the greens were challenging and slow, but the very friendly staff made the day even better. This course offers a unique and fun golfing challenge, and the welcoming staff adds to the overall positive experience.

This course is the best value golf course in the Jackson metro area. In the spring of 2025 they have put a lot of effort into improving the fairways, greens, and tee boxes. It also has a great full length driving range that has concrete hitting bays with artificial turf mats and a roof, as well as a grass range area. This course is in mostly flat terrain with fairly high clay content soils so it does retain water with heavy rains and can be a bit soggy or even muddy at times in some areas, but that clay content also means it can get very firm during dry times and your drives will roll an extr…

It's not a bad little course for the price. I'm here for work, and seeing is how every other course in Jackson I called required a membership. This place was great. Does it need some maintenance and grounds work, sure. But if you're looking for a cheap, easy course just to work on your swing and have some fun, this place is not terrible. 4/5 only because it's in desperate need of some water.

Great place to learn the game. The staff is friendly, the range is great, and the back 9 has some gorgeous fairways. Oh yea and the prices are phenomenal.

You will get your money's worth at this golf course. It has been an excellent place to come and practice the game but also to get a quick round in and work on the handicap. Are there better golf courses? Obviously. Is this a good golf course? Yes, it is.

Great to be back! I learned to play at Grove Park and this was my second home. I went to Tougaloo on a golf scholarship, but shortly after graduation, I set the clubs down. Now, in my mid 30’s, life is too short not to be golfing. Great faculty, great remodel, wonderful staff! Great course all around. Going back today!

We went with Isaiah to the driving range. It was nice with a covered overhang for shade. Grass mats were there to practice with irons. And, just forward was sandy grass to practice with drivers. It was a sunny light windy day. My wife and daughters each hit a few golf balls and decided it wasn't going to be their sport. Better left to those with athletic abilities.

Learned how to play golf at this course. Have watched the entire facility grow over the past 6 months. Club house renovations, course improvements and a culture of good energy at PB. They make it easy to come back knowing money is being invested every day to improve the course. Optimistic for what’s to come in the next few years

Pete Brown is a good course, good prices. Range is a bargain, with covering to minimize the sun, can hit from mats or grass.
