The Refuge Golf Course

The Refuge is one of the best public courses in Mississippi. Beautifully maintained with a layout that’s both challenging and fun. The fairways are in great shape, the greens roll true, and the scenery is fantastic, especially around the water hazards. Staff is always helpful and friendly, and the clubhouse and nearby resort make the whole experience feel premium. Whether you're a serious golfer or just out for a casual round, The Refuge is definitely worth the visit!

Staff in the club house were great. Young lady in the bar food area was very attentive. The fairways fair and were nice with not very many bare spots. Lots of water.Greens were great and putted well and true. Not real fond of the aqua driving range but ok. Nice carts with GPS. Definitely will return here.

Resort style! Course is kept in great shape. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoy rounds here with friends as well as taking business clients for a day of golf. Nice practice facility with driving range, chipping green and putting green. Nice restaurant with plenty of drinking food options plus on course beverage service. No matter what you read from other reviewers, know that a visit to the Refuge means mud. If you LOVE MUD and LOVE PLAYING IN MUD 365 days a year, the Refuge is the place for you! The other reviewers clearly overlooked this flaw. But to what other reviewers have said, the course easily could be one of the best in the State of Mississippi, but the superintendent insists on keeping it utterly saturated with water! Great course for what it is. I can't really say much about the greens because they just punched them. I was notified before booking though so I knew what I was getting into. The course is in great shape. It is pretty open with some small bunkers and water in play. Only 4 stars because It is kinda "squishy" in certain low areas (not too crazy though) and I only saw the Cart girl once. Go play, you'll enjoy it!

Rain did not slow me down today. Pace of play was not an issue today. The course is in great shape for the winter and the greens are running true (I just can’t read them). Looking forward to my next round.

This place is AMAZING!! I was here speaking at a conference and was blown away that there is a property like this in the Jackson, MS area. I travel all the time so I am not easily wowed but this place did it. Not only is it beautiful but every one of the staff were so nice. If you go there please look up Sorethina R. And Mrs. Betty D. On the front desk. These two are the BEST!! They made sure my stay was perfect and they did it with a smile. Had to give these people a shout out for a great job!!

I’m continuously impressed with the establishment that runs and maintains this golf course. The staff members are friendly and the golf course is kept in great shape.

Real nice layout , think course need to have a starter on the weekend . It was kind of confusing trying to find out your start time .

The course is in perfect condition. The greens were smooth as carpet. Flow was ideal as we played fairly early. All was a very positive experience......except my score!

Had a blast! The golf course is in awesome shape, and it is very picturesque! Tech on the carts, waterfowl, water, sand, woods, and I got to see it all. Lol. I went at twilight for 18 but only got nine good holes in. Asked for a raincheck for the other 9 but the pro shop was closed. We played another 2 holes in waning daylight until we couldn't see. Wish I could get that raincheck so I can really experience the back nine, but that's on me. Great time anyway!

Refuge Golf Course is in excellent condition—lush fairways, well-maintained greens, and a scenic layout that makes for an enjoyable round of golf. The staff was welcoming, and the overall experience reflected a high level of care and quality. My only critique is the lack of a course marshal to help manage pace of play. Slow play from novice golfers created long delays and disrupted the flow of the round. With a marshal actively monitoring and guiding pace, this course would easily be a five-star experience. No one wants a 6 hour round or only finish 14-15 holes if you paid for 18. Still, if…
